Bump.
I've been thinking. A suggestion that may be non-blizzlike though.
Each week, for some hours, turn a zone into a battlefield.
It's not blizzlike, but would people hate it just cause it's not blizzlike?
Every god damn server made out there is blizzlike, maybe it's time for a change?
Blizzlike mainly satisfies players who play here for nostalgia (some of them dont even hit 60)
But many players play here because vanilla is actually fun. You may say 50% of population wants blizzlike (which im really sure its much lower than that, people who at least wouldnt mind this suggestion)
Let's give players who want plain fun some space for them too!
For example, each saturday for 3 hours, turn a zone to a battlefield.
Let's take durotar as example.
There will be some sort of objectives. Basicly places with buildings
Sen'jin Village (small horde controlled town)
Razor Hill - The horde outpost that horde players will defend. In addition, orgrimmar grunts, will be added for defense, or any other horde alligned npcs. There will be an elite npc that will be the guy who needs to be killed, in order for alliance to take control of razor hill)
Tiragarde Keep. - It will be the starting place for alliance. There will be alliance npcs added. And probably an alliance elite npc, that will be the general of the assault.
Alliance will try to take control of razor hill. They will do that by killing the specific npc that is the objective. (In addition npcs may be added as sign of control, every happening will be announced) Their next target is orgrimmar. Basically this is the idea, we can see how it will be continued further.
You can use npcs from alterac valley. Frostwolves (horde) and Stormpikes (alliance). There's a huge variety of weaker and stronger npcs from factions in that zone. The elite npcs that will represent generals can be for example "Commander Mortimer" for alliance and "Commander Dardosh" for horde. Or even the captains, which are "Captain Balinda Stonehearth" for alliance and "Captain Galvangar" for horde, more characteristic boss npcs and relatevily stronger.
The zones may become contested for that time (that is your decision)
There doesn't have to be a script for npcs. There will be spawned by GMs. The spot of the npcs spawned can be pre-decided. A simple way, there's no need for complicated methods. (GMs will be hidden) An announcement shall take place before the event. GMs will watch the battle, and make things happen, depending to players taking objectives.
This suggestion can be unfriendly for lower levels who are in the zone. Personally, i'd love it anyway, even if some quests would be impossible for me at that moment, since a war is going on, id rather watch the war. It's not like it will be impossible to level for them. And the satisfaction for the participants in the event will be huge.
This can be done in contested areas instead. There are 3 perfect contested zones for these kind of events, its not a coincidence these zones are linked to a battleground.
Ashenvale. Splintertree Post vs Astranaar (linked with warsong gulch, zone with many alliance and horde bases/outposts)
Hillsbrad Foothills. Southshore vs Tarren Mill (linked with alterac valley, alliance and horde base really close to each other, with some extra alliance grounds all over the zone)
Arathi Highlands. Refuge Pointe vs Hammerfall (linked with arathi basin, many bases of alliance and horde npcs, suitable for a nice battle)
These are examples for areas that war can take place once a week.
I've discussed this with people, they like the idea. This never happened in any server, you guys can be the first ones to make something so unique.
You can try it for once or twice, and see the feedback of people.
Please take this suggestion into consideration. I am willing to discuss and answer to questions in private.
Was good to have you all
