Character Transfer

Hello. Recently I have made the decision to move to Nostralrius due to the fact that the server that I was playing on (Emerald Dream 1x) had a very small population, whereas Nostalrius has a growing population. I have spent a very long time on Emerald Dream, and in that time I have leveled one character to level 40, and as I'm sure that most of you know, it is not so easy to get to level 40 in vanilla, or in other words, it's quite time consuming.

I thought that perhaps a Character Transfer feature would be convenient. There are probably many more players like me that want to have a character transfer from a dead server to this one. Not just people that got to level 40, but even people that are level 60 and have many epics and so on.

Of course this idea isn't flawless, and I can understand that. Let's just start with the fact that back in 2006 there weren't any Character transferring services, so this wouldn't be 100% like it was back in the day. Or perhaps maybe even some people may exploit this somehow, and possibly many other flaws.

But I have to say, it is quite discouraging to have obtained many rares, done many dungeons and just to start all over again or just go back to a dead server. And also, I was thinking of ways to prevent people from exploiting this kind of feature. Such as the following:

There are many private servers out there that boost your xp/profession rate, increase spawn rate of mobs, increase drop chances, etc. You could only be eligible for a character transfer if the server that you are transferring your character from meets the requirements for this one. (Much like Emerald-wow WOTLK servers , they have this exact feature.)

You also have to provide valid proof that the character you want to transfer is actually yours and real. This I thought may not be one of the big things people could do as it's fairly easy to figure out whether or not someone's character exists or is theirs or not. One thing about this though, is that I do not think that the staff at Nostalrius may have enough time for figuring out who's lying and who isn't, and also many people may want a character transfer at the same time, so that would demand a lot of time.

Perhaps they could also make it so that you can transfer your character, but with certain conditions, such as you cant transfer any characters below certain levels or something like that, whatever they may think would keep the balance in what level everyone is, and so people aren't all just level 60 suddenly or something of the like.

So anyway, in conclusion, I think they could find a way to make this work, however yes I understand that most likely this isn't going to be a reality, since there weren't any character transferring services back then. Thanks for reading and I hope you may consider this!

Also, I'm open for anyone else to state their opinions on what they think about this, and if they agree with me or not.

Also, my personal opinion? They will never do it here unless the server is dying. This server has 5-6k players, so that is no where close. Also, it is a new server.

In addition, I think it'd be naive to expect character transfers here. Better to suck it up and lvl again like so many of us have. Many of us have come from servers like Emerald Dream just like you (x1 and all). I admit, it sucks, but expecting anything different is wishful thinking.

Oh well, that's quite unfortunate... perhaps they meant at the current moment or something? Well now my hopes for them making a character transfer feature are dim... but still like a little flickering light in a creepy basement. Thanks for your reply.

I also dont think you understand how Complex this would be.
As a first database wise. It requires exactly same database
And if its not the same it needs rework table by table needs verification and check up.

Besides that the most complex task, communication between 2 seperate private servers.
1 that doesnt want to have players leave since their community will be smaller. And not wanting to give access to external party's.

Just re-roll & have more fun on Nost, imo. Generally speaking, things are scripted better here, especially for the lower levels. The population is large enough here that you shouldn't be alone while leveling.

I am currently level 28 (close to 29) and my /played is about 1d 8h or so. Which means, leveling up in Vanilla is not as hard as most of the people imply. Just get your hands on a good in-game guide and you're pretty much set!
