Dear Nostalrius team & dear testers

I could really hug you and kiss you for doing what you are doing :D

I got two suggestions, but first my background:

For ages I have been searching for challenging mmorpgs that are also playable, beautiful and immersive. I am an older gamer, I used to play a lot of single player games on Atari XE and ST, but during the haydays of WoW I was in a period of non-gaming, doing so called more "important" stuff :D

By the time I started to catch up and play mmorpgs a few years ago I was too late :( I started around Cataclysm and found WoW to be meh, because too cheesy. After that I tried many many mmorpgs, but they could never keep my attention span for very long, I always resorted back to single player, for the sake of challenge. Although in reality mmorpgs attract me way more because of their social and addictive aspect.

So I tried again and again. Rift suited me somewhat, but then they started to nerf things and boost xp. Then I found Vanguard and it bit me, until they also started with their (forced) xp boosts. Some had great story but where sooo damn easy I would fall a sleep.

Many times i returned to WoW because of its slick UI, great atmosphere and addicting gameplay style, but the difficulty lvl was brought down more and more every time so i got turned off again and again, until i could not stand it anymore that such a beautiful game was dumbed down and destroyed to cater this rather large lazy and impatient mass of gamers. I really cannot understand how these people seem to enjoy the total senselessness of most current mmorpgs... ???

Until I tried WoW vanilla a few days ago, right after giving up on ESO.

I simply loooove the greater dmg of the mobs and the greater grinding, its more of a hassle to acquire things and I just love that. I am really looking forward to intensive, tiring raids and vicious competitive pvp.

Lvling up like a mindless hamster although fast like current mmos offer is more of a grind to me than the long but more sensible grinding in older mmorpgs like Vanilla.

THANK YOU for bringing my search to rest. Its feels like a reward for my ongoing search for that mmorpg utopia, for me not giving up believing it was still out there somewhere.

Now my SUGGESTIONS:

- KEEP IT RETAIL

- KEEP IT XP 1x without possibility to jump to higher lvl

- FIX BUGS but LEAVE imbalances or other imperfections like they where in retail

The impatient can play other versions, please keep giving us the Vanilla Retail WoW as it was intended.

For sure I am ready to give some financial support in exchange for me enjoying your game.

I am one of your nr 1 fans now, please keep up this great work you are doing!

Best Regards!

I'm fairly certain that's the plan. The server is popular how it is, no reason to ruin it in the attempt to get more people.

I disagree with the "keep it retail" part.

Retail doesn't mean necessarily the most fun. All the gear, the quests, the game mechanics, abilities, rate of leveling. Keep it same!.

But don't say no to a few custom events that have no reward whatsoever, for the sake of fun and uniqueness

Of course I am not principally against improvement, but please not on this server. Other servers with other versions can be created, but leave at least 1 that stays exactly the same, except for the bugs.

In this way you know what you get and you know it stays that way "forever".

Personally I prefer an exact copy of the game like it was initially produced and to have the certainty that it wont be changed.

For me it gives an awkward feeling if I know the game can be changed @ anytime. Also this aspect diminishes the challenge to me. Because it makes the world less persistent and thus less strategically predictable. Because one cannot plan the future if the laws of the universe change constantly.

For me a game is about learning the mechanics, learning the universe, into detail, and becoming talented in certain play methods so you can beat the world and the other players.

A single player world is also persistent in the same way, so one can say: I have beaten this (version of) the game.

Also an improvement can turn out to be a dis-improvement and all of this is subject to discussion. In this way the game can loose itself in endless changes back and forth and endless discussions about these changes :p

The retail game at patch 1.12 was quite finished. Not perfect but perfectly playable. And that version is perfectly fine with me :)

To put it short:

1) I want to know what I get (version 1.12)

2) I want the game to remain like it was when I chose to play it (version 1.12)

Greets

To the few custom events i reffered, i meant events happening with a small duration, with an addittion of npcs in that area, only for that specific moment, no permanent changes.

Yeah excuse me Simonich, I now see I read your reply too fast. I actually agree with you :)
