Important small changes to the timeline

by Aquane » Tue Feb 24, 2015 3:38 am

"Regarding raids, Black Wing Lair will be available 2 months after Molten Core & Onyxia Lair content is cleared.
ZulGurub and T0.5 quests will be available 1 month after Black Wing Lair content is cleared.
Ahn Qiraj War Effort will be available 2 months after Black Wing Lair content is cleared." -Viper

so the devs plan to release tier .5 before they release AQ
in the actual WoW timeline, they released tier .5 in 1.10, and AQ in 1.9; I ask, why are you doing this, and would you change it so that at least tier .5 is released a month after AQ or after AQ is finished?

also I don't remember if all T2 items are planned to be made avlaible in MC at release, but if they are, then please remove T2 from Molten Core loot tables, except the pants from rag and head from ony

I can see this being abused hard after 1.4 buffs are done, and would make progression through BWL take much, much less time than it otherwise would take

EDIT: thanks Hatson for clarifying they won't do that, I thought they said that somewhere but I wasn't sure where

and additonally, theres the issue of the class-specific sunken temple quests and the elite hinterlands quests
these have pretty good gear that is going to be used well into MC if these are avalible during release; I shouldn't need to give any examples

now I can't pinpoint for sure exactly when this stuff was released, but I can discern this

take a look at the item number here http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=19120 rune of the guard captain
items are numbered depending on the order they were created in, and you won't see certain item IDs before certain patches; for example, you shouldn't see any items with a 19000+ ID before patch 1.4

now I take a look at this
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=18813
ring of binding
this was added to onyxia's loot table in patch 1.4, and thus it is grouped with the items released in 1.4

now I look at this

"Additional new raid items have been added to the treasure lists for Azuregos, Lord Kazzak, and bosses in Molten Core.", patch 1.5 notes
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=19137 this is one of them, Onslaught Girdle from ragnaros

from this we can deduce that the rune of the guard captain, as well as all of the hinterlands elite quests were released in patch 1.5 because of this part of the patch 1.5 notes
"The Hinterlands has a new Horde quest hub known as Revantusk Village, located on the eastern coastline. Horde players level 44-52 are encouraged to visit Revantusk Village and assist the Revantusk with their myriad problems and tasks! " patch 1.5 notes

also heres the item IDs for woven ivy necklace and deep woodlands cloak, respectively
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=19159
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=19121

I ask that you release the hinterlands quests with the patch 1.4 gear buffs

now pinpointing when the ST class quests were added isn't as easy to do
heres an item from ST class quest rewards

http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=19990 Blessed Brayer Beads
this is the lowest number item ID among ST class rewards, and the numbers range from 19990 to a number between 20500 and 20600
however druid quest rewards are an exception, and are 22k numbers, which means they were added in much, much, much later; this ID is in line with naxx item IDs which means it was released during 1.11 or so or just before 1.11

so lets ignore the part about druid rewards and act like they were released at the same time as all the other ST class quests

heres an item from Blackwing Lair that is not a tier 2 piece
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=19364 Ashkandi, Greatsword of the Brotherhood
the item IDs get close to or go past 19400

heres an item from ZG
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=19852 Ancient Hakkari Manslayer

heres an item from nightmare dragons; the one with the earliest item ID
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=20577 Nightmare Blade

heres the two latest item IDs from sunken temple class rewards, excluding druid rewards
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=20556 Wildstaff
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=20620 Holy Mightstone

now lets take a look at this from the 1.8 patch notes; too bad I didn't find this before I wrote all that stuff up
"Added level 50 class quests for the Warrior, Shaman, Paladin, and Warlock. Trainers in the major cities will let you know where to start your quest. " 1.8 patch notes

1.8.1, 1.8.2, 1.8.3, and 1.8.4 patch notes don't say anything of the like

from this we can conclude that the sunken temple class quests, except for druids, were released with Nightmare Dragons, patch 1.8.x, and that Blizzard didn't put all the class names in the patch notes, though they did leave out druids, and thus the addition of ST class quests in 1.8 for hunters mages rogues and priests were undocumented changes, and that all of the sunken temple class quests that reward the player with a choice of blue items should be released with the nightmare dragons

and furthermore, I'm looking at this here
"Ahn Qiraj War Effort will be available 2 months after Black Wing Lair content is cleared.
Dragons of Nightmare and Abyssal high council will be unlocked soon after Ahn Qiraj War Effort began." -Viper
patch 1.8 was nightmare dragons and patch 1.9 was AQ
however the abyssal high council was released at the same time as the dragons of nightmare were
"The Stirring of the Silithid

The arid sands of Silithus are shifting. Something is awakening beyond the wall to the south... Aid the Druids of the Cenarion Circle as they delve into the mysteries of the desert. Seek answers behind the Twilight Hammer's presence. Discover more about the alien creatures known as the Silithid as you explore their hives. Many new endeavors await the high-level adventurer! "

heres an item from one of the windstones
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=20515 Abyssal Scepter
heres one from one of the nightmare dragons
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=20639 Strangely Glyphed Legplates
from this its pretty obvious that the windstone bosses were released with nightmare dragons, despite the (ambiguous?) wording

I ask, would you guys release the nightmare dragons and windstones and ST class quests all at once before AQ war efforts, and make the other applicable changes that I suggested, please?

Some good amount of info and speculation here, indeed needs a look into by the devs and perhaps some response.
However:
Aquane wrote:also I don't remember if all T2 items are planned to be made avlaible in MC at release, but if they are, then please remove T2 from Molten Core loot tables, except the pants from rag and head from ony

They already answered that topic here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1019
We already know BWL will come out on the horizon, so there's no logical point in there being T2 drops in MC besides the Pants from Rag and head from Ony, respectively.

Keep in mind its not about creating a true blizzlike timeline, however they aim to make one with a natural progression line, this is the reason you wont see full T2 in MC, dungeon gear being released before than 1.10, so on so forth. Although most of your speculations are correct, you cant determine when items were released by their ID, it might give you an idea of it, but its far from a source. Interesting ideas, thats for sure! :)

Well, Viper said several time that they were "aiming for perfection" regarding the item changes. The lvl 50 class quests as well as the rewards from the Hinterlands are well known from anyone, so maybe we're just worrying too much and it was already in their plan to make those quests unavailable at release. At least I hope so ;).

Regarding the rest, well it requires a bit more research and sources, but I guess this is exactly the kind of thing they've been looking into recently. And if they haven't, well we all know they read the forums so they might change it right now and it would still be perfect ;).

bump

this has to be addressed by the devs before people start hitting level 40ish, which could easily be next week for some dedicated players

Maybe it is already done :). But a confirmation would be nice indeed.
