Decrease respawn timer on Xorothian Stardust

by Bribens » Wed Jun 03, 2015 11:14 am

We're a bunch of warlocks fighting to buy the Xorothian Stardust from Ur'dan in Jadenar for our epic mount quest.. the problem is, the dust is always sold out, and has a respawn timer, which is insanely long. Also to even buy the dust, you need a 6.5g expensive potions, which only lasts for 20 min.

It's a real pain to get this dust due the population of the server. Please decrease the spawntimer, so it matches the amount of players who needs to buy it.

I agree. I understand that making the respawn timer shorter than it was on retail would make it non-blizzlike but I look at it as no different than mob respawn rates. Since the devs have added a dynamic respawn rate to mobs to make leveling about as difficult as it was on retail, why not make this quest about the same difficulty as retail too?

As it is now, warlocks are camping in front of the vendor for days at a time (over 24 hours for me so far), logging in every 30 minutes or so to check for the stardust, and then logging back out to retain the 20-minute disguise buff you need to purchase the item. If this goes on much longer, I can see players missing out on a whole week's worth of gameplay before finally getting the opportunity to spend 150g for one item in a long, expensive quest chain. I'd like to be able to do dire maul soon, but I've wasted so much time waiting on this Xorothian Stardust that I don't want to leave now.

As far as I'm aware, Xorothian stardust shouldn't even be in limited supply in vanilla. Current respawn timer is 12 hours.

I'll make a bug report with it later if I can find supporting evidence

I've spent the better part of an hour looking for any information on whether Xorothian Stardust was ever supposed to be limited supply. After doing a quick Ctrl+F search of every patch note from 1.4 onwards (no point on doing any earlier, as the quest was added in 1.4), there are no notes updating anything about the item, so if it was ever implemented with a limited supply, this was never changed. Does any one have any information indicating that the item was not of limited supply during retail vanilla? If so, please post it here.

Bug reports up with "some" evidence that points to it being a limitless supply (video from 2008).
It's the best I think we'll find though.

tbh there is nothing in that pic to prove you didn't just take it.
that said, I still agree with everyone. One person in my guild was able to grab the dust, but the rest of us have given up after going through 3-4 pots. "Dynamic Respawn" would be muchly welcome here.

A few days ago I bought three shadowy potions (18g), camped him out for two days, and then was ganked, effectively removing the shadowy potion buff and rendering the previous two days of attempts utterly pointless. This is getting infuriating. I could be running dungeons/pvping and instead I have to gimp my character for days on end to get a shot at getting my epic mount.

Even if the respawn timer existed in vanilla, it is still NOT BLIZZLIKE, if you leave the timer the same one a server with 4x the blizzlike population! You've realized that with the respawn rate, why don't you realize it here??

they still didn't with mining nodes and herbalism nodes. :< but yes Xorothian dust was never limited as there would be so much rant about it even on retail.
