What to do about Gold Farmers and Limited Ignore Lists...

So the gold farmers have taken up home on Nost.. and no real action seems to be getting taken against them.. They just spam non stop for hours upon hours..
Sure you ban the account, then they just make a new one... Without automated IP banning nothing will stop them..
Users are left with the only option of /ignoring them.. Which then fills up our ignore list (which is limited in vanilla) and when the account finally does get removed we're left with "Unknown" in our ignore list that we can't remove because it says.. "Player cannot be found.."
This was always my major pet peeve on retail wow too.. Bliz.. Just like Nost, takes the position that they don't want the gold spammers here.. that its a violation of the TOS, yet.. no real action ever gets taken against them..
So I have to ask.. Are you being funded by them in some way? Which.. If that's the case.. I'd be more than happy to just listen to them spam.. What I don't like is being lied to..
So if you really don't want them here.. You need to take some action against them..
Write a log monitor process or something.. Monitor for their URL's, and get some automated IP banning in place.. and put a stop to them..

Chill. There's not much you can do against people with all day to try and scheme. Protect yourself by not participating in their craziness.

Greetings,
It won't fix the gold farmers problem but there is a solution to make your ignore list unlimited (almost) by installing the addon SpamThrottle.
It lets you setup keywords and filter chat messages containing them (such as "thunderfury" and other commonly spammed messages) as well as letting you put a player in your chat ignore list by a right click on their name in chat window, for an amount of time you chose.
Here is the link :
http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/spamthrottle/I believe there is also a more simple addon that just remove the limit of the number of players in ignore list ?

Please report the gold sellers through the in-game ticketing system so that GMs can deal with them quicker. We get surprisingly few tickets about them.

I had a ticket in the queue for 45 minutes earlier with a short "name: goldseller, screenshot: link", nothing happened

"Nothing happened" as in, your ticket was open for 45 minutes and closed without a response? Or it was still open after 45 minutes? I've opened tickets about gold sellers before and sometimes they've been answered in a few hours, other times they've been answered in under 15 minutes. Once a GM told me he had already taken care of the account and was just giving me a friendly heads up before closing my ticket.

Nah, it was still there after 45 minutes.
I've had the "ticket mysteriously disappearing" before and I'm aware that that means a GM consciously closed it.

GM's are volunteers, not paid staff. Due to that, we cannot be 100% certain that there are GMs online 24/7. I'm sorry if you feel that your ticket went unheeded.

I'm not angry or upset at all, I'm perfectly aware that GMs do it for free. Realize I might have come off that way, sorry.
Perhaps an external system could be arranged where people can report gold sellers and gold sellers only, and the GMs, general members of staff and maybe a few trusted users can take a look at those through the web interface.
