Group Exp?

by Inzomnia89 » Sun Jun 14, 2015 8:49 pm

Hello

Was group exp implemented after patch 1.12.1?
i was playing with a friend and realized that the exp is halv of what i would get by playing solo?
Group exp is approx 20% more while in group?
As it is now it's really slow playing with a friend.

Is it something that is being looked at?

There's a very complicated formula that World of Warcraft uses to determine the experience you'll get from a mob. I don't think anyone has data mined the statistics of it successfully. It essentially splits the total amount of exp you get from a mob by the number of nearby party members. It also does a difficulty calculation on each player before dividing the exp. Then there's a ton more calculations, but to sum it up. Leveling in a group isn't fast.

Its not complicated. Its simple.
The thing is to count variety of parameters due battle. Next step is only a math.
Group exp counter is more ... no so complicated, but heavier, if it can be said.
I'm Russian. In our country we have vodka, balalaika, matreshka, bears... and also a "Topol-M" :D

The formula is complicated by the equations that are unknown. The math and equations are simple, if done by a human, it would just take some time. But if one were to attempt to make the exact formula, they would be forced to add the equations that no one has been successfully tracked down yet through data minning. Rendering the task and math extremely difficult.

I agree Zoey. To be able to data mine the complete formula would be extremly hard...
Yet the solution could be simple. A simple group xp boost of say 20%. so instead of the current exp when in 2 player group it would be 70%-70% instead of 50%-50%.

the math should not be hard to compile and should be faily easy to implement to nostalrius.

I motivate this by when questing say kill 20 mobs giving 50% exp. = 10 mobs killed? ergo questing faster means less experience but with the same workload?, ppl should be encouraged to play together and not gain from playing solo. this could just be me.

Nostalrius is continuously releasing patch content, much like Blizzard did back in the day. If Blizzard released a patch such as this then Nostalrius will release it as well. If they didn't, then this implementation will probably never happen. If they were to make a custom patch to add it, then the server wouldn't be considered Blizzlike anymore.

Patched content has actually slowed down to what seems to be a month at a time. I also thought there was some kind of bonus to being in a group, without this bonus I'm not very inclined to group at all unless for donjons or elite quests which takes away from the experience of playing an mmo.
