Is it possible to implement a wordfilter for all chats?
Certain words (sinbaonline, susangame, etc) never appear in any useful messages so it seems like we could automatically filter these. I would like to suggest that anytime a player tries to post a message containing one of these words, they do some funny emote instead. (Banning would be too heavy-handed because people could accidentally write these words, for example when talking about the wordfilter).
Can it be done?

I don't believe that there's a server side system that would allow Staff to add a specific word or sentence to a blacklist filter and developing/implementing such a system would take extensive amount of time, and there's currently more urgent bugs that needs fixing. Also, I've been told that Nostalrius is currently not logging chat due to the strain it would put on the host server. The profanity filter is client side, which is to no use.
Gold Sellers will always find a way to circumvent systems such as these by adding symbols, changing letters, adding spaces, changing url, using url shorteners, teleportation suicide to form sentences and more.
Currently the best thing you can do is take a screenshot of the message, upload it to a site such as imgur and report them to a Game Master. Sadly, we all know that they'll just create a new account and do the same thing, but they're forced to level up to 7 before they can.

There are several addons that you can use to create a client-side keyword filter. One of them is mine:
https://forum.nostalrius.org/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=5350In the most recent release (posted in first message in that thread) i've added the common gold selling site names into the default keyword filter. SpamThrottle also eliminates duplicate messages with a configurable timeout, so even if they have something very creative macro'd, you'll typically only see it once.
Type in /st or /spamthrottle to bring up the configuration window.
