Some kind of xp weekend?

by Snuset » Wed Jun 24, 2015 1:22 am

Hello!

As my title suggests I would love to see some kind of xp weekend with doubled xp gain from killing monsters and doing quests. This suggestion of mine is cause I know a lot of people wanna play 60 wow but many stop when the grind takes forever and ofcourse you have a big player base but if this is at all a possiblity I'm sure many including myself would appreciate this and take the opportunity to actually get the leveling done quick and reach the endgame state of this server.

I hope you can consider this suggestion of mine cause really after all these years of leveling characters in wow it's starting to get really booring.

If this seems reasonable at all please implement it and like I said make it something like a weekend or something so it's not to long of a xp boost.

Best regards Snuset

Even though this reply was before the relaunch of Nostalrius and wasn't suggested as a weekend event, I have a feeling Viper is firm with this.

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea even if you're about to get "not blizzlike" replies. I don't mind it because I'm already 60 and wouldn't mind having an entire bracket move up 10 levels in 2 days.

The slow leveling, as tedious as it can get, is a good way to teach new players that things take time and that they should remain patient. Especially when they're in dungeons and even more so during raids. Because of that and other personal reasons I'd like it to stay x1 at all times. Beside that, I doubt that this would ever get implemented due Nostalrius goals of being Blizzlike.

x1 xp (always) is a vital part of the vanilla experience. Deal with it or find a different server that does have higher xp rates. Plenty of choice.

This has been brought up many times before, and each time it gets thoroughly shot down by the community. I thought I had a thread saved where Viper chimed in on this suggestion and said it wouldn't be implemented, but I can't find it at the moment.

Actually, you want an experience boost? Log out in an inn/major city for a week and I can guarantee when you log back in you'll have "boosted" experience for a few levels.

It always bugs me when I level up that there's whole regions which are skipped just by being over-leveled. I wish the game was more liberal and free-form with letting you 'grind' an area for as long as you liked, before trying to take on the bosses. The ease of the bosses might depend on your time spent grinding nearby as much as your ability to get a group together, and only lastly your overall level.

I always thought it was a step back from Diablo 2 to have each step in the chain require all the previous steps. The auto-acquire quest function was years late, and too stingy.

So yeah, I wish leveling was actually a little slower, but also that it rewarded grouping for ordinary kill quests much more.
