My suggestion is for the developers to just give us sign of life. That would calm a lot of people on the forums going crazy about not hearing anything at all from you. I know you're working hard as there are a lot of silent bugfixed without posts on the forum and I'm sure you're working even harder to release new content soon! Just on the other hand I think it's not fair to your fans to keep us in the dark about progress. By the way, it is blizzlike to know when the next patch is about to be expected

You can check the bug tracker to see some updates as to what's going on. But I'd rather not have the developers spend time releasing information regarding progress, not by themselves or by continuously informing other staff to do it. No matter how they do it, it'll slow down the development.

I'll be blunt with this one since it's unfair to claim that they owe anything to anyone. Nostalrius doesn't owe the fans anything. It's the developers and staff who puts their own time and money into the development of the server, and they do it without any requirements and they do it for free, not to mention they pay for the server.

If I bake you cookies for free, but spit in them, I guess that's ok because I've given up my time to bake them and they're free right!

Communication is a requirement for a healthy server and Nos has a certain responsibility towards that for inviting us to this venue. For all we know, they could close up shop tomorrow or the player base could drift away (these things do happen). Lack of communication and lack of content has killed other servers. I'm sure most players and the devs themselves wouldn't want to waste five years in development on something as simple as lack of communication.
