Please fix existing bugs before adding more content

I for one do not care at all about the pace of the timeline. Quality is way more important to me than speed.

I am noticing that there are a lot of bugs that are not being addressed - yet more new stuff comes out (and introduces even more bugs.)

Is there any chance of the devs taking a little time out from the timeline, and just focusing on squashing the current bugs and polishing things up a bit?

As a few random examples:

Fishing has a few bugs that have been reported for months but are not fixed. One bug is that your character stays in the fishing stance after stopping fishing. You have to relog to fix this. It stops you from doing certain things, such as following another player, while you are still in that stance. Someone reported this on 5/9/15 and others have many times since - still not fixed: https://report.nostalrius.org/plugins/tracker/?aid=864 and here is another one on 7/5/15 - https://report.nostalrius.org/plugins/tracker/?aid=1035

There there's the whole "I'm casting in a totally valid place to fish yet it keeps saying my cast did not land in fishable water" bug - saw this referenced in a few other bugs but forgot to copy down the links. Not resolved. If you need an example, try fishing in the undercity. Easily 75%+ of your casts will fail until you find one tiny spot where it sort of works almost all the time for 5 minutes or so.

Pets have lots of issues.

Pets definitely have trouble hitting NPC's before they stop, as this person reported back on 4/29: https://report.nostalrius.org/plugins/tracker/?aid=686 (Looks like the ticket was never assigned to anyone.)

As a hunter or warlock, pets will also randomly disappear (some have reported not being able to get the pet back, for myself that never happened but I would have to re-summon them (blow whistle as hunter or literally re-summon as lock.) I am talking about 1 second you are walking with lion right behind you, next second no lion, you blow the whistle and he's back.

Pet pathfinding is very strange. I notice this a lot on my lock - my pet will stop 10-15 yards away and watch me getting attacked, but he is "stuck" at somepoint (usually flat open ground, no tree or anything in the way.) Also, if the VW pet is using consume shadows, and you get attacked, he will not come help until a couple seconds after he has reached 100% health. I am 99% sure in retail/vanilla days, the VW would immediately stop the consume shadows spell and come help you if you got attacked (and he was not set to passive stance of course.)

Some instances are missing elements, very commonly certain mobs will not pull (ie it's way easier to separate and just pull 1 or 2 whereas back in the day all 5 would have came.) The mobile alert & walking bomb things in Gnomer didn't seem to be working properly yesterday - the alarm guy literally did nothing (didn't summon elites after sounding his alarm 3x) and the mobile bomb thing walked right up to us several times, but did nothing. When we tried to attack it, we got an "invalid target" message.

Profile pictures (the circular picture of a character's face, such as you, your pet, an NPC, etc) get all screwed up and misaligned if you are not using the default resolution.

All I am saying is, the devs clearly have limited time (they are volunteering!!) and it seems like there is not quite enough of that time being dedicated to chasing down and fixing bugs. I for one would much rather see things getting fixed and bugs becoming a very rare thing, rather than seeing constant new content but with bugs (and the old ones never getting resolved.) If I wanted fast content, well... I won't even say it

Actually all the bugs you are complaining about did happen back then. I have been playing since jan 2006 on retail and beforehand watched my friend play for almost a year. the warlock pet would do exactly what you think it wouldn't have. To be honest it really isn't that shocking to have the same bugs

If your pet is not loyal, it will run away forever.

If you run a certain distance away from your pet thats stationary with a mob/commanded/bugged in terrain, it will despawn. Typically beyond the range of your minimap is the requirement. This existed all the time of vanilla on retail.

I played back in the day, so I know for a fact that at least many of these bugs did not exist. I certainly never experienced these fishing bugs back in the day. I did not have this issue with the warlock pet stopping 10-15 yards away from me. And on my hunter, my pet sure as hell didn't have this much trouble stopping a target / intercepting a moving target.

Xylon, I am not talking about a loyalty issue or range issue with the hunter pet. In my case, my pet is loyalty level 6 (best friend) and I always maintain the green/happy status by feeding. Also, when he disappears he is not far away from me, his is right by my side then POOF he's gone for no reason. Calling him with the whistle makes him re-appear, as I said in my OP, so clearly not the pet running off since that is permanent.

What some people don't realize is that mangos/cmangos is an attempt to recreate/simulate a wow server. It is NOT a perfect 1:1 duplication of how a wow server worked, because no one has access to the original Blizzard code (at least no one willing to share it.) So there are things that don't work as they should. Additionally, the devs have to do a ton of scripting, which again - is obviously not the same code that Blizzard used back in the day, it is an attempt to duplicate it based on how it seemed to work.
