Website upgrade

Hello Nostalrius staff and community.

I personally believe that the Nostalrius website should be upgraded.
The looks at this moment are good, but there is almost no content.
It's not my goal to put more pressure on the staff, the goal is to find people inside the Nostalrius community who are willing to help out with the project.

- Idea poped in my mind after i have seen another WoW private server website. The server is named "Primal WoW" (you can google to check it out, don't want this to be advertising, but rather concept sharing)
-The thing is, Nostalrius is running with 4-5k people and has very little information/content on the website
-On the other hand, the mentioned server peaked at a bit under 500 players, there are mostly 200-300 online players.

-Things that the other website offers :
- Arena ladder
- HK ladder
- Achievment ladder (WOTLK)
- Server status
- Server statistics
- Online charts
- World events
- Armory
- Auction
- Talent calculator

Besides that, they have a running forum.

I made this post just to show what we are able to create with the Nostalrius community.

We need to get the community going, in order to improve the server along with the hardworking staff.
There should be plenty of programmers, html experts, wordpress maniacs, designers, imaging software specialist and so on playing on this server.

If a few of them would like to share their time and energy with the website project, we could start on improving the website right away.
If the Nostalriusstaff likes the idea, they can make a "Web designer" group here on the forums. Maybe allow only them to post on the website related topics, to avoid unecesary spam. Other posts should be opened for critics/ideas.

I'm inviting everyone interested in the idea to apply here, let's see how many people we could get involved.
Remember that you would not recieve any payment for this work, as it is done only in order to improve the Nostalrius experience.
GM's, share your opinion on the idea aswell :)

And don't forget to take a look at the mentioned website, as it will make it clearer where my idea is headed.

Thank you for reading!

Lok'thar!

Oh man, how about we let them focus on the bugs in the game first... Website should be way lower on the priority food chain...

Web and Game Developpers are nothing alike since it's not the same languages.
Web has HTML, CSS, JS, SQL, PHP and others while Game has C++ and SQL. So, Web features would not impact the game development other than recruiting and giving little access to do something.

Great ideas Benix. :)

Got a message about it right after i opened this thread.
Would it not be much better if it was implemented into the Nostalrius website?

Why reinvent the wheel?

As for the FAQ,

No database will be provided to the players. They will have to find a 1.4 database on their own (like it was back in time).

I assume a public database is a general term for any public access to data such as character, items, NPCs, guilds, etc.
