I believe that you should allow for players to pay for name changes. Let's be clear, this is NOT something that should happen for race changes or server transfers. This should ONLY apply to names. Why should this happen?

[PROS]
-Fundage for maintaining servers.
-Players can happily change their names instead of recreating their character JUST for the sake of a name

[CONS]
-Oh wait, there are none.

Simply put a 90 day cooldown or higher on paid name changes, and this system will not be abused. This has no impact on gameplay, progression, or player interactions. It only helps the community and the server. I for one would use this system, and would be willing to pay up to $15 USD.

Now imagine yourself in a raid with 39 more people and one of them ninjaloot your epix. Instantly goes for namechange, goes into another raid and ninjalooting galore can begin anew.

Now, just for the sake of dramatization of possible consequences imagine this same person in your every raid.

How do you like your idea with namechange now?

Ninjaloot 3 items at the cost of 15$. Worth?

If you want an item badly, and it finally dropped, 15$ is probably nothing for them.

Put ninja's on friend (or ignore) list - a name change will keep them there, under the new name. That's how retail works.
They can pay for a name change, but they can't hide!

Would fully support name changes, it's a way to get some gold into the management.

This exactly. Ninja looters can't hide from ignore list, as well as a 90-day name changing cooldown in place to prevent repeat offenders. $15 for one item, still being blacklisted from raiding, and not being able to change that for another 90 days? 1-2 people would go that far, but they'd gain nothing from it. In comparison, the server as a whole gains much more fundage and happier players.

What about character sales. There's already commercials about account selling being broadcasted.

No, I don't really support name change for the fact your name should matter on the server, if anything it's what you're soulbound to and that way the real toxic idiots are being fended off quite effectively.

That being said, it's an awesome server (for the most, anyway... ) and devs sure do deserve donations. Sadly I don't think name change is the way to go however.

I'm against this, solely because there were no paid name changes during classic retail, and I'm against any changes that go against the spirit of the original game. However, I'm all for supporting the server, the developers need but ask.
