I suggest that threads posting official updates by Nostalrius regarding things such as the recent spike in server crashes have comments disabled. If people want to whine (Read: spam) about what everyone already knows, they shouldnt be able to do it where people go for updates to the situation. There are 20+ pages in that thread somewhere there is a more recent statement from Nostalrius than the original post.

I agree. If people want to comment on announcements, they can take it to the appropriate public forum. But announcements should be just for that..announcements.

Stop reading the replies. If you disallow the community to congregate in the official thread, they will create threads in the general discussion, suggestions, and support that will be bumped forever in order to get a reply. People will voice their opinions and it's best to keep the thread open for comments that don't need an answer.

well, they create those threads anyway as we see right now about the instability

Rather than locking out annoucement threads at creation, why don't they reserve the first page for complementary information and write "(check first page for updates)" in the headline along with the topic in question until people get used to it.

I agree it would be nice, if announcements itself wouldn't be replied. It's so anoying to search for the last official team post between all that spam. If people wanna discuss about an announcment they could open a Thread in relation to it.
