In my personal opinion, the server should have more game masters, particularly from different time zones, what this will do is, uphold the upkeep of support with technical issues as there should always be a GM alert, being able to monitor chats and support concerns. Considering it's not a job position and being a GM doesn't cost wages it's probably a pretty good idea for the betterment of the server and it's players.
Successful candidates should undergo a written interview or something similar that determines the persons level of commitment, passion, and interpersonal skills in trouble shooting and problem solving.
Just a thought.

Volunteer GMs usually pose a certain threat to such a project (abuse of power, lack of interest/professionalism), but the community needs an ingame assistance.
Hopefully, Nostalrius will make a public post where they share their Game Master plans with the community, and possible applicants.

Employed GMs have the same problems. The variety of service you got (and probably get) from in game GMs on retail differs widely.
You do your best during the selection process and have a good process for getting rid of the bad eggs. Eventually the good ones you keep will be able to make good judgements on the community for potential candidates.
My main point being, there's no way to have a GM team that will never have trouble. That just won't happen. You just need to put in good management processes to ensure that if you do get a bad egg, you can remove them quickly and have on hand a list of potential replacements from the community.
(experience based upon management of a large admin team from another online game entirely)

Both good points, there are allot of bad eggs out there who just want to fake their way into the role because of the hype of "power" being a GM, most people do take the opportunity for granted.
It would be interesting to see a post about their plans, hopefully this post inspires that thought.
Whilst a GM team will never be perfect, it can be close to perfect, it's fairly easy to filter out the bad eggs, it takes careful monitoring of behaviour and an effective initial interview that poses complex questions, it's all about asking the right questions to get the right answers from the right candidates. E.g
Very much like a real life interview process.
Why did you choose this role
What can you contribute in this role
This coming from my manager who I have close relations with, he's managed over 20 jobs in his life including million dollar resorts, so I'd say his professional opinion has a point ; )

I want to apply to become a Game Master, i have big experience when it comes to work as a mod, i've helped people for over 4 years now in a large forum. I try to PM the Admins of this site but i don't find any way how to reach them.
