Alterac Valley Timer...or one other suggestion.

by deadward » Fri Oct 02, 2015 4:18 pm

I was in a ten hour AV last night. I was able to join it, leave, eat dinner, hang out with friends, and then come back to a still stalemated AV.

We need a three hour timer on AV. Whoever has destroyed the most bunkers/towers at the end wins. If it's a tie give one mark to each side.

I know people are going to talk about Blizzlike and that kind of stuff, but let me make a few points.

The people that join at the beginning of these AV's are not the people who complete these AV's. It's practically a new wash of people every 2-3 hours with the exception of a few.

What happens because of this is...the history of that 9 and a half hour long AV is wiped as the player base switches itself out. This is a problem because the same stalemated situations repeat themselves over and over and nobody has any memory of how to avoid repeating the same situations.

This results in an excruciatingly long AV that holds everyone who want's to do AV on the server hostage.

That's a problem obviously.

If you don't like the idea of a timer....

You should make turn in bonuses easier and easier to get as the hours progress. Wolf riders, and ram riders(or whatever) should be easier to get as the hour marker for AV moves up. EG: Hour three wolf riders should be significantly easier to summon than hour 1 wolf riders. This will create a ramping effect where people can more easily push to end the game, and we can get rid of these 10 hour AV's that nobody stays the whole time in.

Wish I could tell you. I left at like ten and a half hours after we failed to take the bunkers and alliance formed up on the bridge.

I think a 3 hour timer solution with bunker/tower destroys as a win marker is an excellent idea, and the least "intrusive" of changes to solve never ending AV grinds.

If we really want to improve it though, the npcs have to be addressed. I'm not sure what Blizz was thinking with the armor scraps to increase base npcs to elites. Everything else moves toward a quicker resolution - towers are destroyed, galv and belinda die, elite offensive riders are summoned, ice lord is summoned to attack, etc.. It would almost be better for flag guards to start as elites, and turn-ins would decrease the opposite faction's guards to lvl 55s over time.

- Increasingly easier-to-get riders also makes sense

- It seems the patrolling elite Lt.'s are still respawning, as of last night (is this supposed to happen?)

- It's been said a lot, but please get rid of those mines!

The last 3-4 AV's I've been in have been permanent turtles. 10 hours plus. Can we not get a solution to this?

It would be great the 600 resources addition, i know is not blizzlike, but developers have added other things that are not blizzlike.

With 600 resources it will be much quicker to get AV reputation and will make Av a place where you actually can get some honor.

lol...I can see it now.

AV takes too long

<Devs implement a duration limit of some sorts>

AV goes too fast; it's just a zerg rush to the other base and no one fights!
