Using the client's built-in Breaking News function

The WoW client has a built-in function to display the contents of a specific URL on the login screen. Since my client is the EU version, it checks http://status.wow-europe.com/en/alert
and displays anything found there. It might be possible to re-direct this to a site operated by the Nost staff. It would be a good way to keep the community informed of maintenance, downtimes, etc. It might be possible for players to modify their local "hosts" file to redirect outbound traffic to another IP - however there could be issues with the DDOS mitigation, I'm not sure. Anyway, this is a possible idea that might be worth looking into.

Its possible but we have to either modify our WoW.exe or hosts file.
