As I understand it, It's okay to transfer currency across factions, but it isn't possible without two accounts, which makes players afraid they will get in trouble for multi boxing or gold trafficking. What a bother!
Is there a reason why can players not buy things from themselves?

They could artificially increase bid prices on their own auctions

Shill bidding happens when anyone—including family, friends, roommates, employees, or online connections—bids on an item with the intent to artificially increase its price or desirability.
