Have an NA and EU realm

Regardless of where it's hosted, thats how Blizz did it. Would help curb the concurrent player congestion, allow native languages, create more predictable activity periods (it was fun staying up knowing everyone else is going to bed!) Don't recall vanilla retail having 5000 concurrent players on a server. Maybe we'll see how 60 pans out but if pop remains same (or ideally grows) the world is gonna have no resources. as much as it stinks to divide a community, blizz didn't design the world to support this many players at once. This just doesn't feel right. EU and NA realm would solidify the real blizz like experience.

Congestion is annoying now. Months from now you'll be very happy that there's only one realm (if you're still playing).

I wish I could reach through everyone's monitor that uses the term "blizz like experience" and strangle them to death.

Perhaps. But as some have pointed out there are some very popular reputation and farming pursuits at 60 and if pop remains same then we will encounter a similar negative effect. Speaking to right now, leveling is a huge focus to lots of players; it's why people love the idea of 1x leveling. They would argue this imbalance has spoiled the experience. I would never dispute this high pop is gonna do wonders for BGs dungeons and raids, but at the end of the day, Blizz had a large team of educated engineers and developers and they designed the world with limits in mind. It's kind of ironic that Nost devs, who pride themselves in the authentic recreation of the original experience, have chosen to completely disregard this enormous element of the game and focus on seemingly trivial accomplishments, such as limited itemization, all just to tout the fact they've made the largest and most popular private vanilla server to date.

My context of the term is not a strict blind adherence to how this game originally transpired, like so many have advocated, but rather playing a game that feels right, as the original creators would have wanted. And frankly for me, feels like how I remember it. After all this is about nostalgia for a lot of the real WoW vets.

What would prevent the merge of realms then?

What with the first kills?
What with the scepter of AQ for instance?
Would it be fair? aka "Lol noob, you got your gear in a kinder surprise (ie not on US realm)" etc etc etc

Although this may have its merits, it is at the same time a unique opportunity to meet and play with people across the big pond. Cherish it :)

People seem to think that adding more servers is an easy answer for several issues; PvP vs PvE realm, EU vs NA servers, server population issues, etc.

While having multiple servers would be a fun thing, keep in mind that it would also take a lot of time and money to invest in it. A second server means a second physical server as well as more GM on staff.

I'm sorry, but don't expect a second server.
Currently Away until Late June :(
