I hope so, this is one feature i completely missed due to starting a bit later then most.

Regarding the fact that they want to release and modify the items in a progressive release as well, it would be a very cool feature to the server.

+1 from me. Perhaps make it exclusive early on just like on retail, so it could work as an incentive to reach level 60 and obtain an epic mount early on?

Would be completely Blizzlike to put the old epic mounts in the game until some point in the timeline that somewhat coincides with the 1.4 release (since Nostalrius won't be following it exactly), and then replace the mounts sold by vendors and add the NPC to change them.
