Would explain the lack of communication. And the caring about premades and DM farming - the qq worked.

Still here is no shop so this is 100% not blizzard

You know, if I was Blizzard I would setup a test server and make it out to look like it's NOT run by "me".

I would then have a new player join and point that out so as to cause a paradoxical suggestive thought; meaning most people would see that and go "oh so it really is", but upon reading this they would say "oh so it's really not", but that would leave them thinking that it actually is; the cycle would be continuous.

...leaving players divided on if the servers is or is not a Blizzard secret project.

A couple hundreds players on some backwater private server in the middle of injun country is nothing. Even our pride and joy, our 8k-large server is less than 1/1000 the numbers Blizzard is serving. A pin-prick, really.
Plus, the devs never used the legendary Blizzard motto:" It's ready..when it's ready!!"
Definitely NOT Blizzard!
Remember those advertising banners you put on a webpage and it counts the visitors by counting mouse-clicks on them? The more clicks the more money you would get? Maybe some similar scheme allows the devs to run the show.

What's in it for them is running a game thousands of people play and enjoy. I've run private servers for different games in the past and it's a good feeling to bring people entertainment even at your own expense.

I'll tell you something though, running game servers that can host 7000 people are not cheap. This must mean that the founders have a lot of spare money or big donators.

Not in here and certainly not in-game. I was saying, maybe there is some other activity covering these expenses.
The devs could run a ring of steel mills, for what I'm concerned. They don't look like just some bunch of freckled bored UNI-students to me.
Before becoming what it is today, 2 more private vanilla WoW servers merged to the Nostalrius 'company": Blackrock and Prismatia.
We don't know everything, all the details.
For my part, I am just happy it exists. :D
