Varian Wrynn is not in Alcaz island why?

I fight my way to the sewers of Alcaz Island hoping to see Varyan, but he's not there. The naga Tidelord Rrurgaz is in his place earlier than it was retail.

Why?

From wowwiki:
Until patch 1.9.0, players could witness the king in his captivity in the sewer dungeons of Alcaz Island just north of Theramore, though he was not involved in any quests at the time. With patch 1.10, Varian was replaced with an elite level 62 myrmidon named Tidelord Rrurgaz.

Just asking! I always wanted to see the old Varian in Vanilla. He should be there and he isn't.
