Short time period? Time plays no role. I can take as long as I want trading items from one account to another.

You are allowed to do the trade, not keep being logged in after you finished. That is the short time period :p

What is the amount of time that has to pass in order to get a warning or a ban? What if I take an hour using professions on two accounts? What if I take 10 hours to trade an item? What if I'm online with 2 accounts for several days on end doing absolutely nothing besides browsing my professions tab?

When does time become a factor that warrants a ban? Especially when time is not stated in the ToU as a factor that warrents a ban.

I can name two other valid reason for trading instead of mailing:
- Mailing costs 30c per mail. That adds up if you have lots of stacks of e.g. runecloth
- Mailing takes an hour when done from one account to another - trading is instant.

I was wondering where the 'time' aspect came from. It's not in the Terms of Use so why is it even mentioned to begin with? It could be that I am missing something or it could be that the person claiming time is an aspect isn't informed correctly, I don't know so that's why I'm probing for more information.

People will talk about stuff they don't know anything about regardless, that's what forums are for.
They forget to mention the part in the ToU where it says you're allowed to use a second account for banking purposes, and you simply can't put a timeframe on banking purposes.
Having 2 characters online won't get you banned as long as one of them is parked in a major city and isn't using the AH or queued for BGs, fulfill those criteria and you will never get banned for multiboxing.
This is a fact built on experience from day one of the server and the ToU, which means discussing it would be pointless, unless you want to discuss changing those rules

So say that you have a toon in the AH scanning with Auctioneer (sometimes takes an hour or so) can you have another account that you can be grinding levels out simultaneously? Neither account helping the other, just playing separately.
