A few questions about guilds and life on Nostalrius.

by Levinas » Sat Jan 02, 2016 11:36 am

Greetings.

I have played quite a bit on another private server in the past, but decided that I would like to try the 1x experience and to move away from the people running the aforementioned server. In other words, having heard a lot of great stuff about Nostalrius, I decided to pop by to check it out.

On the other server, I was lucky enough to be a part of a really awesome guild, Pyran. We were not particularly great in any aspect of the game, but the guild was full of mature, witty and lovely people - something I have missed being a part of ever since. We also did a little of everything; PvE up to AQ40, a lot of premades and just fooling around and having an awesome time.

My questions:

How's life on Nostalrius PvP?
Being a bit of a forumite, I realize that forums can often paint a skewed picture, but just some general observations would be most welcome.

Are there any guild(s) here focusing on having the "right" core of people?
Having been a member of a "progress at all costs"-guild in retail it's very important for me to be in a guild that only takes in people that are actually nice human beings. Sure, taking down bosses and getting ranks is all fine and dandy, but I'm a team player and I like my team to be made up of people I actually like and care about.

Are there any guilds willing to take in a potential raider or is recruitment strictly "geared 60s"?
I'm not going to use the word "social" here. I plan to level and gear as fast as possible and I'm not interested in just being a /gchat hangaround. I want to contribute and be a part of the guild, but right now my main obstacle is obviously getting to level 60 and getting geared. If I could do that as a member of my future guild it would be just awesome.

My character on "the other server":

Levinas, Warlock:

I plan to play a Warlock here and I live in Denmark, so looking for an EU guild. I have no faction preferences.

Thanks for your time and I'm looking forward to meeting you in Azeroth as friend or foe.
Greatness, at any cost.

I don't know which server you talk about when you saa "that other server" - Kronos maybe?

never mind, you will see the population is much bigger here, and there are guilds for any kind of people - from casual players to real hardcore guys. But to get inito such a guild you should probably be level 60 (and geared), anyone could claim being a raider as level 10 ;-) - linking to a character on another private server - especially if it is a high XP / badly scripted server such as VanillaGaming or Feenix, where an end-game geared character means nothing here.
Since levelling to 60 can easily take months, I don't think you should expect any high-level guild will take you unless they maybe already knew you from Kronos. I know at least one guild migrated from Kronos to here, ao maybe?

The PvP server tops at 10k players, the PvE server at 2.5k players.

Welcome to Nostalrius :-)

Thanks for the welcome, Mimma.

I did play on Warsong, Feenix, but didn't want to mention it, as at least on Feenix it was not wise to bring up competing servers. Would be nice if mods/admins are more relaxed here.

Linking to my character was only in case someone from back then were around and recognized me. The character is not even well-geared, so would not be particularly impressive for someone coming for a server where everyone has access to Naxx gear. :P

I will get on with the leveling, but I'm still interested in some feedback about the guilds here. I do not like guild hopping and having done most of the content, I'm more into finding the right home right away. I have checked the guild recruitment forum, but like you say, Mimma, everyone can present themselves well in textform and for that reason it would be nice to get a glimpse of the guild landscape.
Greatness, at any cost.

You will not find any other server like Nostalrius, in regards to population.
Leveling (while tedious to some at 1x pace) will be a lot easier, since finding groups for any quest and dungeon is pretty quick.
Horde PvP queues are longer than alliance queue times. Some say hordes win more often. There are statistics somewhere on these forums.
Raiding, whether pugging or with a guild, is also fairly easy to get into.
Goldgrinding or farming for items/consumes is a bit more difficult here due to the massive population.
But there are plenty of creative ways to do so.

That's a pretty f*cking difficult question to answer. I bet 10 out of 10 guilds will say they only recruit the right people. The only thing you can do is find out who the raiding guilds are, and be on the lookout if you're in a dungeon or battleground with their members.

I can only speak for Dreamstate, but with a great application, you should be able to get a leveling trial spot in most good guilds. I do mean a great application though.

Og til allersidst, så velkommen til Nostalrius, der er ikke rigtig nogle seriøse danske guilds, så dem ville jeg gå helt udenom hvis jeg var dig.

Serenity - 60 Shaman PvP/PvE Healbot
