A reminder of what Retail was like for a good 7+ years

Every time retail applied a patch the severs were down for hours. They brought the servers down for 1/2 a day for 'maintenance' every week. While i agree with everyones frustrations at the lack of warning to plan my wow addiction around said forced break the fact that the admins/dev's are bringing the server down for an hour or 2 to fix something shouldnt surprise anyone.

Well, this is from the wikipedia page about World of Warcraft:
"World of Warcraft was first announced by Blizzard at the ECTS trade show in September 2001.[49] Released in 2004, development of the game took roughly 4–5 years, including extensive testing"

Please do research before commenting. As a follow-up; Are you one of the agents provocateur from one of the "competitors" Like feenix or kronos?

I was in beta for retail, and played from launch. This project is quite superior to the other so-called vanilla servers out there.

Most of those "promises" were player made. I don't recall Nostalrius ever saying "0 downtime to apply patches!"

But it was maintained by professional coders, are Nostalrius developers professional coders or just hobbyists?
