I bet you would take 30 minutes to level up your bank alt before Scammers would. You don't like the idea because it's a 30 minute "inconvenience".

Let talk about "inconvenience". Let figure there are roughly 17,216 accounts (using the forum members numbers). If 5% of those are suffering from a COD scam that's ~861 accounts. As an Admin or GM do you want to deal with that? No, you don't. So you put a 30 minute restriction on all new characters. Takes you no time to hit level 3... then your restrictions are removed. Scammers and gold farmers are not going to spend the time doing this. They have quotas to meet. They can't be bothered leveling a character for 30 minutes.

COD scam isnt really a scam lol, blizzard already has a popup asking you if you want to pay it, If you click yes that's your fault.

I agree. I'd rather take 30 minutes to level my bank alt even to 5, one time than deal with the gold farmers.

I mean come on, ain't all of our bank alts have rested already and it's not like it will take more time for new people that will join the server, they can also create a bank before they start needing one (which they will do) and about when you hit 40 your bank will have that rested even if you're a newcomer. Also a guy said "It will be hard to level up without armor and weapon" if you're a caster you can facepalm yourself, if you're not then starting area vendors are there for you to provide you with the finest lvl 1 grey/whites you can imagine for a copper! (Or if you're that cheap, you can create another character that your "girlfriend" is playing and give you some gear)

While on the other hand I don't really care about the mail scams, but I do care about the Grizzly/RD/Kronos/Whitekidney/Ogtucker/Oi spam that is going on. I want the server to be as quite and non-toxic as possible, I know that we can't achieve true peace, not with 6k people, but we can start from small things.

Gold farmer are not lvl 1 people going around farming for gold, they are made accounts to sell "safely" gold to people, the guy who got the gold CAN be banned if he gets tracked, while the lvl 1 account doesn't care if it is banned so it's safe for them, not for the buyer. So a lvl 1 char could hold as much gold as a buyer would like to have.

- I told you this before, I have more than one "bank alt" and most other people here do as well.
Leveling to 3 doesn't even take 30 minutes, I don't want to level my bank alts because it's pointless, making restrictions on low level characters solves nothing.

861 accounts. As an Admin or GM do you want to deal with that? No, you don't.

- Exactly why they don't deal with it, you lose your gold to a COD scam, you aren't getting it back from the GM's.

Takes you no time to hit level 3... then your restrictions are removed. Scammers and gold farmers are not going to spend the time doing this. They have quotas to meet. They can't be bothered leveling a character for 30 minutes.

- As I said before, leveling to 3 doesn't even take 30 minutes.

If you really think that a gold seller isn't going to level up to 3 to continue selling his thousands of gold that he has already accumulated....

"Hmm, leveling up to 3 is too hard to sell this 10,000g for 1,000$... Better to just give up now and delete it all..."

No, all it does it cause an inconvenience multiplied by the amount of bank characters a player has.

If you want all of this you should say at least level 10, because level 3 takes about 10 minutes to get

You don't think scammers will take 30 min to level up an alt? I wonder how much they can make from scam mails in 30 min, probably a lot more than you can farming at their level (they're doubtfully level 60s)

I'll partially agree. Putting a chat restriction on players level 4 or under so they can only use /say or /group wouldn't bug me at all. Due to the huge number of problems it would solve, I think most folks would go with it or bump it up to level 3 instead, whatever.

A gold restriction on characters? No. I ran 2 full accounts worth of characters (18 total) to Ironforge to use as banker mules. Before you say "wow that sounds retarded" - I did it opening day during the hours when the server was stable but every living noob mob was dead from other players. Anyway, if I feel like using them to auction things, I shouldn't have to worry about the amount of gold they can possess.

A mailing restriction on level 1 alts? No. Same problem as above - I don't want to deal with having issues of using my banker alts freely to send or receive mail from my mains if they're say, out in Stranglethorn.

But I'll make you a compromise. If the staff is willing to put in something custom so that a low level character can't mail a person who isn't on their friends list in a 2 way fashion (both sender and receiver must be on their respective character friend lists), I could live with that inconvenience in the name of screwing over scammers.

It would suck, but I'd simply open the game in a window and start filling up friends lists on my characters once and forget about it after that.

It wouldn't solve anything, it would just introduce new ones to real players. Bots and scammers aren't bothered by a few levels at all because a computer or third worlder does it at almost no cost.
