On retail, I started WoW more than one year after the game launch, and still had great fun in HL guilds.
It's never too late mate!

It will be even more true on this server than on retail, since nobody will be forced to upgrade to TBC, and since population is even bigger.

Currently leveling myself. 9 hours played and I'm level 13. Loving every moment of it, the starter zone might be a little packed depending on the day, but otherwise it's fantastic. If you need any help and are alliance, PM me!

You could say that you missed the actual rush to 60, but there are still alot of players leveling and finding a group for a quest or an instance is easy as hell. The leveling zones are still crowded so yeah, I'd say it's definitely worth creating a character!

There's still only a few guilds raiding on each side. If you can level pretty quickly (~2 weeks) then you'll only have missed about a month worth of "other people clearing endgame." In the grand scheme of things, that's nothing. A lot of things have yet to even really begin, like any serious PvP environment.

Most of the MC gear is also garbage right now, pre-raid BiS is actually literal BiS in 90% of cases, so the raiders aren't getting much of an advantage in that regard until the patch that udpates item stats some weeks from now. The boat has only just left the dock and it isn't too late at all.
