Goblin Bruiser Exploiting

by Robotron » Sat Apr 11, 2015 9:39 am

I've seen this going on for several days, and I'm making this post to make sure it gets noticed. Note that this has nothing to do with Gadget rooftop ganking; that's perfectly legal. No, this has to do with using abilities while on the ground that do not trigger the Bruisers to attack you -- most likely a bug.

The first one I've seen is Blizzard. For some reason, Mages using Blizzard do not cause Bruisers to react at all, despite doing it right in front of them. The new exploit I've seen today was Alliance using the Timbermaw transformation and attacking right in the middle of Gadgetzan:

A minute or so after the screenshot, the transform effect wore off, and the Bruisers aggroed the offending Hunter.

I assume neither of these ways to kill players in Goblin towns existed on retail, and therefore assume abusing Blizzard/Timbermaw to kill people is a ban-worthy exploit.

Personally I think safespotting should be against the rules too.
So i'm a bit biased.

While extremely unethical, safespotting will be legal until someone can prove it otherwise, unfortunately..

All you people saying ban everybody are complete idiots.
I hope all you who push for bans like that get banned yourself.

You mean that Hunter that needed to use a health pot to not die to 3 sub-30 Horde in Hillsbrad a few days ago is exploiting? I'm shocked.

You mean like several people have? It's against Blizzard's ToS, they consider it an exploit to safespot in places with guards that would otherwise attack. They considered it such since as far back as April of '06.

That being said, this new issue is more pressing IMO. I too have seen people doing it, on both sides.

I reported Electron for it, as have at least 3 other people on multiple occasions. The GM told my friend that he would give him a warning, and my ticket was closed without any GM contact.

I understand GMs are very busy, but there seems to be a real language barrier between the players and the staff, and I want to know that the GMs understand that we're NOT talking about safespotting.

Staff have gone on record saying safespotting is legal. Rooftop ganking isn't very nice, but it's allowed.

I merely made the observation that if using Blizzard to attack people of the other faction was supposed to get the Bruisers upset with you (same with having the Timbermaw buff), and it currently does not for whatever reason on this server, and people are purposefully taking advantage of this bug, then with the way the server moderation's been going, it's bannable. When I first saw this happen, I was in BB, and it was a Horde Mage who did it. I cautioned him to stop in case the GMs decided to ban people doing it.

I personally think they should fix the bug, instead of ban people for it.
