Skype - Can I use earphones Mic ?

by conciliar » Sun Apr 12, 2015 12:13 pm

Hi guys,

hoping you can help me. I want to use the mic on my Samsung mobile earphones with my laptop (is it possible?) - which is an acer aspire E1-572. (there is only one jack on the side which has a headphones - sign)

When i'm talking with my friend on skype it uses the inbuilt laptop mic - transfers some annoying background noise.

I have plugged in the earphones in the only one jack I have on the side of my laptop. I can hear sound through the earphones but is it possible to to use the mic also? (the earphones does have a mic)

Having looked at control panel under the recording options it only shows Realtek High Definiton Audio listed as the microphone - which I guess is the inbuilt one. The second option is Stereo Mix - which i've tried also.

Under speakers settings on control panel it also only shows Realtek High Definition Audio, and I can hear the sound in my earphones instead of the laptop speakers which is fine.

Thanks!

Almost all computer headphone jacks are just that. They usually don't have dual input for a single Jack like phones do. This is why all computer headsets that use inputs instead of usb have a headphone and microphone plug.

You can always use Skype on your phone with your headset.

In order to get your earphones to work you could cut off that multi speaker/mic jack and solder two 3-pole jacks on to it. One for speaker and one for headphone.

Else, you could get something like this: http://www.ebay.in/itm/3-5mm-Mic-Stereo ... 1411573446
