Nosta experience perspective

by bethrezenn » Mon May 18, 2015 6:58 pm

Hello there,

I will intorduce myself and point out that i`m not the usual forum whiner but the issue i`m going to raise has serious implication to a certain playerbase and that is the casual pvp boys.
Now, to us players that do have other things to do in life, playing a couple hours per night and/or weekends has become the standard so i`ll rise the problem especialy regarding those type of players (but not only).

Basicaly the awsomness of the project work cannot be experienced in full due to immense lag issues that rise every evening and/or weekend days. PvP is basicaly unplayable unless u`re a masochist. I don't know if PvE is affected on the same scale but PvP wise it basicaly destroys each and every positive aspect (and i`m fully aware there are many).

I`m pretty sure the issue can be fixed, and I for one am hereby declaring my will to donate for new hardware or any other solution the devs find fit, but i feel this needs to be adressed rather quickly in order to provide an improved experience.

My 2 cents.

What are u`re thoughts ?

For PvE discussion, post here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2815

As far as the lag concern, I'm sure the devs will post something about donating for new hardware as they have done so in the past.

If they make a new sever I will probably quit, lets just assume that it splits population in half and the 2 servers have same amount of population. Instead of 7k peaks we will have 3.5k peaks and instead of 2600 low point we will dip down to 1300.
Splitting the servers is not an option, and will likely end up killing both servers if they do that because so many people here play here instead of somewhere else because of the massive population
edit: i would also like to say that i live in indiana with 125ms and experience NO lag whatsoever when there is 7k+ on.
The small amount of lag i very rarely get is more than worth it for the huge population

7k players online at peak times makes it extremely difficult (and unrealistic) that everyone is 100% happy.
They had previously setup a Paypal donation mechanism & procured some new server hardware to keep up with capacity, as far as I know that donation mechanism still exists. I believe that these donations are completely voluntary & no in-game advantage is conferred.

of course you see nothing out of the ordinary because you're already on (in my opinion) annoying latency.

some people actually play with 10-20ms and there is a huge difference in gameplay as soon as 6k+ players are online. i guess it cant be helped but it is frustrating because were used to fluid gameplay.

Paypal is just asking for trouble with them withholding funds, Bitcoin should be the only real option for this, there's no doubt they need to increase server hardware.

This is also true, after the server crashes and there's only a few hundred people logged in it's extremely fluid and no delay at all. It's not lag per se because my ping stays around 30-40ms but it feels like server lag, as in the hardware cannot keep up with the amount of processing power it takes for that many players.

sorry i like high population servers, which is why i dont want them to make a 2nd server here, because it would split the population.
