Add a queue?

Why not just cap the server at 6k and add a queue after that? The server clearly can't handle the current load; whenever the pop goes beyond it there's a delay. You could also add an AFK-kick timer so that spots aren't being taken up by people not doing anything.

There's already an AFK kick/timeout. Not everyone is feeling the lag though. The past 2 weeks I've been lag-free and I play a good 8-14 hour session.

My ping is consistently 20-30, I'm very close to the server (UK), and I have a 100mb download speed; yet I still find myself with a delay of anywhere from 0.5-3 seconds when the server pop goes beyond 6k. Many people seem to complain about it in world when it's bad - how is it possible that you don't experience it?

He either doesn't play at those peak times or just doesn't notice it. I've seen people lag playing behind their shoulder and ask what delay I'm talking about lol. Also if you are just walking around when the spike happens you probably wont notice it.
