Many people, like myself, played vanilla WoW when it was retail and obviously had never played it before, and we did just fine. In fact I think it's easier to get into vanilla if you've never played WoW or you loved that version the best. It's more difficult if you're someone who's only played Cataclysm+ to dive into vanilla, and much more annoying to the rest of us to deal with those people that are expecting it to be like current retail.

Come join the guild convulsion on horde myself and others are old eq players also played on p99/r99. Be more than willing to help a fellow EQ player out.

Not sure how often I'll be playing. Hooked on p99 at the moment, but I can see myself putting some time in.

Horde limits my class choices (takes away paladin) so for tanking its warrior or Druid. Troll Prot Warrior? That viable?

Don't go prot for leveling. Really do not. It will make your solo time hell.

With any build you will be able to tank the 5 man dungeons as a warrior by just equiping a shield.

Also racials are not that important. They can be nice but you should just pick the race which you think looks best.

I tell everyone play what you enjoy playing, being your first time, i'd say spend an hour on a caster and a melee to see what you like more, race does have its advantages

for a tank tauren is normally the best choice, but like i said play what you enjoy, after all its about having fun.

You should level as Arms or Fury, definitely not Protection (tank). You can tank anything as a dps spec up until you hit 55ish probably. Leveling as Prot is verrrrrrryyyyyyyyyy slow, and you probably won't be able to kill anything alone.

Learning to tank once you hit 60 is easy
