It is generous compared to everyone and much probably including you who don't spend a coin on lowbies.
There are not enough greens anywhere to arm all those people needing stuff. Few people getting greens and that's it is unfair. If people want greens or money, they will have to earn it. The whites in fact are useful as fuck and the 6slot bags, compared to their nothing they have, its a huge upgrade. Not only I spend gold but I spend time aswell.
Anyway, the point is, I don't see anyone (or you) helping people, and yes its pretty generous to spend time on them and make them less likely to die, make them kill mobs twice as fast, and give them the possibility to sell all the vendor trash they get. I don't know, at least they who received the gifts, believe I'm generous. Oh and let's not forget wasting 30% of your money to encourage pvp and slightly upgrade standing system.
