Wife and I playing

by djriot » Sat Aug 01, 2015 11:38 pm

Hello! My wife and I would like to play together. We are of course behind the same IP.

Who do I need to let know? Thanks.

Just don't autofollow each other or do anything that would make it look like you're multiboxing.

^Pretty much this.

Admins actually don't care if you "multibox", but if the multiboxed characters are interacting with each other, that's when it starts to be against the rules.

So no, they won't look at two connections from the same IP and see it as suspicious.

Yes, they do care. For example, you will get banned if you queue your level 60 for a BG on Account A while you level your alt on Account B while waiting for your queue to pop.

Hm...I suppose,

The only thing we allow multiple characters for, is professions and banking

So you're allowed to sit in town and do AH stuff on a 2nd character, but you're not allowed to level or quest or do anything else.

But really, how's anyone going to know that you're multiboxing like that? An admin would have to manually check to see two accounts connected from the same IP...not sure if they actually do that without being reported/notified.

Apparently they do care, I play with my family who all live in the same house here. we've recently hit a level where we can play in a number of zones and I had some free time so I decided to run around and pick up flight paths. Apparently someone reported me and a GM logged out all my accounts, gave me a warning and said if it happened again we'd be banned.

In fact, when I was explaining why I had the characters following me, I said it was my wife/kids accounts and he said that if they weren't my accounts that it was account sharing and I'd be banned for logging into them. So, be warned guys ... apparently you can't even log in your wife's charater...

Quite frankly, I find it frustrating. We're not botting, farming or PVPing, we're not spamming or being rude, crude or otherwise offensive in chat. In fact, we're cordial, social and polite, and help people when we can as we're playing. That's more than can be said for a large portion of the population. As we have different schedules, we don't always get to have everyone on at the same time so yes, we would sometimes carry an unmanned account along with us so that they were on the same quests and the same level. On retail we played together and it was never an issue, it simply allowed everyone to jump in and be at the same place when we logged in together.

On Nostalrius, apparently not. Gold spammers can live in the cities touting their wares non-stop, people can spout off profanities and racial slurs in world chats all they want, but god forbid you log in your wife's character and pick up a few flight paths because that's ruining the game.

Seriously, take a look at this policy guys. I get what you're trying to avoid, which is farmers, griefers and cheaters. But telling me you'll ban me for logging into my immediate family members accounts? Really? Are you really making the server by pushing quality players like me away because of some trivial technicality?

It's a shame, because I liked this server. But if you're going to ban me for logging into my wife account and running her character to an instance so we can start right when she gets home? I think I'll just have to find a new place to play.

I Was doing a UBRS run last week and a player was logged on 2 accounts. Sadly, gm picked up on it mid-fight as someone narked, and we lost 2 spots shortly after.
This is nothing compared to the advantage you gained from grabbing fp's.
Read the T&C's and abide by them. Not doing so puts other players at a material disadvantage.

.

My husband never does any quests for me, half the time he won't even help me...

There have been times where i went on follow for a short time to feed the cat or get more drinks and we have never had a problem. I also asked GM's specifically about this and they said we will never get banned if two people are playing.

I'm sorry Joydivision, but I completely missed your point. I have put others at a "material" disadvantage? By enabling flight paths on 2 additional characters, you and others are now disadvantaged in what capacity? Flight paths are not a limited resource, given that no one is competing for them and everyone will have them all by 60 I don't see that advantage you're so concerned about. You even went so far as to say a material disadvantage, meaning there is a definable value to what I've kept from people. Can you elaborate?

Quite frankly, I'd say the advantage is quite pleasant and convenient, but immaterial. At worst, someone who observed me has a severe distaste for people in organized lines and I offended them with my display of perfectly spaced joggers as I ran characters from one Flight Master to another. Aside from that, I really don't understand how I could have negatively impacted anyone at all.

Looking forward to your response
