One of the biggest irritations of any gaming project, regardless of what it is, is a lack of communication. At release the communication was great between the Nost staff and the playerbase, but as of late it has died down to almost nonexistent.
One HUGE topic going on right now is the PvE server release. I by no means am wanting to roll on it myself, though I do see the possible need for it for various reasons (ie. lag, delay, overpopulation, pve playerbase). As I scan through the 100+ pages of responses to the topic in the Announcements forum, I notice one HUGE problem. There has been no communication to the playerbase, and it is causing anger and frustration.
This isn't the first issue. There are some bugs that haven't even been addressed when brought up on multiple occasions. Huge lag issues pop up and we don't hear anything at all expect rumors and guesses from the playerbase.
My proposal is that the staff simply responds, even briefly and with lack information, to the playerbase on HUGE issues.
An example, concerning the PvE server possible release:
We are still discussing the possibility of a PvE server release under the Nostalrius brand. Expect a new update next week.
This simple act of taking 30 seconds to respond to the community would ease a lot of tension amongst that group of people.
For most, the irritation doesn't come from not getting their way (mostly), but it comes from being in the dark of what is going on. I realize this is a free project, and I, and may others are immensely grateful for it. The staff doesn't owe the playerbase anything, but to better this project over any server to date, please communicate to the playerbase. Ghostcrawler was hated and loved by many during his time at Blizzard, but he added so much to the company when he created an open line of communication between the staff and the players.
