I started playing World of Warcraft during The Burning Crusade, and so I never experienced what the game was like before then. I became interested in it through the many positive things I heard people say about it, and through research I had done myself. Although I am still playing the game today, I do not have as much enthusiasm for it as I used to. I am disappointed by the changes they have made, as the game has been transformed because of them. Some changes have been good, but most have not been. After Warlords of Draenor, my desire to experience the game during its "golden age" led to my seeking a private server.
I found and tried many, but I ultimately left them behind. They were all poorly managed, with donation rewards, bugged quests and a population of a few hundred at the best of times. I could not enjoy myself there, and so I began searching for others. Of the ones I saw, "Nostalrius Begins" stood out to me. When I visited their website and saw promises of quality and a high population, I was hopeful. While reading their forums and watching their videos, I saw good things from both. I decided to try it, and I immediately noticed the difference compared to the other private servers. When I created a character and logged into the game, I was surprised by the several thousand people that were online. I did not think that that was possible for a private server, and so it was a welcome sight. In the time that I played, my gameplay was smooth, and I was not troubled by any lag or disonnections. I was especially pleased by the 1x rates, as I did not want the experience to be artificial.
After spending a few days playing, I knew I had found the right place, and I decided to stay. Experiencing classic was everything everybody described, and more. It was immersive, challenging, gratifying and meaningful. I felt like I had found where I truly belonged, and after spending a few months here, I now know that I would not trade it for anything.
