We need more testing [Read Viper]

So best guild only got to kill Garr. So that leaves 6 bosses not tested in Molten core.

Onyxia had problem with fear and lava.
Lucifron had problem with adds not spawning after a wipe.
Garr had problem with his adds and explosions.

So 3 bosses had bugs that i know off. I bet the 6 bosses left in Molten core also got bugs that need to be spottet.

So mabe get a close beta test for guilds like exiled and blacklisted? Mabe they can come together and get a proper 40 man raid and get the whole thing tested with T3 gear.

I would hate for the most serious guilds get into MC in the start to find out they can only do like 4 bosses because the other ones did not get tested and now have bugs.

is Massive Eruption not just a part of the original Garr?

In later patches, he just frees them from his bonds afaik (like banish), but in the earliest, I believe he detonated them to instantly kill people within 30 yds.

at the end of our 40 man test we did onyxia after the Devs fixed her phase 3 server crash. she worked perfectly fine.
MC does need more touching up, ESPECIALLY that hallway of Doom before geddon!! D:

but kazzak and azuregos were working at the end of the test as well with no issues.

I think MC needs more polish and this server is ready for release. :)

There is one big issue, which sadly cannot be beta-tested. That is the server stability when there will be thousand+ players connected.

If the server is going to have frequent crashes and rollbacks at that point, it will be just another private server.
Which actually leads me to a question, what is the population cap of the server ???

AFAIK judging by what they have said publically they have improved the stability of the core. Judging from their testing videos they have a system for stress testing ( by spawning a lot of fictional players doing different things - it's pretty close to the real deal ).

Judging by the video, it looks like the server will hold quite a lot of people. I don't think the player count is going to be a problem in the beginning. Crashes ( caused by previously not known bugs or exploits ) and exploits ( game breaking exploits that affects more than just the player performing said exploit ) will be the biggest problems in the start.

I am by no means an expert on networking or server operation.

But a simulated player, for which all the computing is done by the server, all actions are scripted beforehand and does not require any bandwidth, is in my opinion not even comparable to a real player, playing on different computer half the planet away.

On the other hand, there is around 40-50 new people registering to the forums every day now. So if they do some sort of open beta, some proper testing can be done.

I think the issues that's left with MC (after the fixing of yesterdays problem with Ony, Azuregos etc) could be fixed and looked into after releasing. They could open a PTR for instance where we could test and give reports.

You are so very right, a colleague actually finished his master thesis on that exact topic a year ago :p It depends completely where the bottle necks or issues are located though. Bandwidth may be an issue, but it could also simply be the server core itself. When we disconnected yesterday during the test i never experienced lag leading up to the disconnects which clearly means their bandwidth is not an issue. Unfortunately that's rather obvious as not more than a few 100 players were online during that time yesterday, at least when i checked.

Hello Noxx,

Onyxia has been fixed between the 2 days of the last testing session. Lucifron & Garr were also working properly at the end of the second session (but we understand that some players went to sleep before !) : it has been confirmed by at least 2 groups.

From the reports we received from the second day, we found a link issue between some creatures in MC (Imbaslap named it "The highway of doom" ^^). It has been fixed in about 2 minutes.

Molten Core has already been tested by 3 groups during public but also "private" sessions. We had different reports from different groups, validated/mixed together, it's only a matter of "polish" now.
