No matter how much you played back in 2005, you could not experience all of this game. It is a very big world. Some of us make sure we explore areas we neglected in the past . Not only the zones, but also other aspects of the game like game mechanics. I only raided as a warlock in retail and did a bit of rogue on the side. But i never healed or tanked in vanilla, so doing that now is quite a new experience for me.

Why do you play vanilla? What makes you want to being playing on it? despites it requires like +3 daily hours (as minimum)...

PD: I already leveled my warr to 33.

It only requires that much of time if you want to be a pvp ranker or a pve front liner. If you don;t mind being far behind the hardcore players you can play this game successfully at a slow rate . This is made possible because there is a constant flow of new players so you can always find people that are right at your 'stage' in the game to team up with.

Just my two cents. Maybe I'm just drinking the koolaid or wearing some rose-tinted glasses, but after delving into every expansion (Except MoP) to the fullest, I just prefer older content I guess.

You are right, all the reasons you list are objective things that really make vanilla better game (for people who value this kind of things of course)

It's not us who wear the wrong glasses, its them! (Chris Metzen & Co)

Because i want to tank the 5-20 mans again. Never enjoyed tanking as much as i did in vanilla, and basically quit it in MoP. TBC was pretty cool as well. Personally i don't care for the leveling process, in fact i dont like it. Vanilla was all end game to me.

I just want to hit the cap and get back to PvPing and mass destruction.

I'd usually add "The older RP community" but that's completely non-existent here, so no bonus points there.

Sometimes i'd like to get back on time and play it again, but after played wow for 10 years, going back to vanilla again makes completely no sense.

Im not going deep anymore on the argument, just wanna know what do you think about it, because sometimes i want to play again , but can't cause living in the past makes no sense.

Simple. People find it fun.

- Accomplishments feel meaningful. Everything takes time, but in doing so, feels earned (Compared to retail where you're fed unlimited easy rewards). As a part of this, this game has "big" long-term goals. Logging in for a few hours and knowing you made progress towards these goals is a big deal.

- My character always has value and isn't outdated by a patch or expansion (Unless I transfer her to a BC server when that exists). In that scenario, however, I'm making a conscious choice.

- There's a tangible, finite community here. With no cross-server garbage, people have to take responsibility for their actions. You corpse camp someone for an excessive time, you might have to answer for it.

- The game rewards socialization; There's a reliance on other players, which is more often seen in the likes of sandbox MMO's.

These are the reasons I'm here and none of them are really content related.

Yup this. I only got 1 level 60 in vanilla before Burning Crusade, so I'm now trying other things out as well as enjoying the vanilla raid content. So it's part nostalgia, part experiencing new stuff and so on.

No, in all seriousness, not all of us got to enjoy vanilla during its heyday. I played with a few friends but didn't start sinking a lot of time and effort until late in vanilla. I also didn't know much about the lore or backstory at the time. Since then, I've played a lot more of the Warcraft games and read many of the books and have been interested in seeing how they bridged the story from the original games into WoW along with all the hero characters. Can't experience this on retail post-WotLK because of all the rampant changes they made for Cataclysm going forward.

And as others said, the vanilla experience is overall more rewarding. WoW kept my interest for a long time spanning the first three games; it wasn't until after the launch of Cataclysm that I started growing bored and discontent with the direction the game was heading. I periodically resubbed for the newer expansions' launches but none since Cataclysm have held my interest and kept me playing the way vanilla, TBC, and WotLK did.

Present-day WoW just feels so empty and boring; everything is streamlined to the point where little or no effort is required of the player and social interaction is practically nonexistent. Getting a boatload of daily/weekly epics seems great at first, but after a few days of the same rewards being thrown at you left and right and seeing virtually everyone else running around with the same epics as well, the novelty wears off real fast and suddenly your "epic" rewards don't seem so epic anymore. Sort of makes you appreciate the ones that requires a great deal of time and effort to obtain more, and that's probably why a good deal of players are so interested in replaying vanilla.
