Warriors and Rogues were always the best dps due to how crazy they scale with better and better gear and statistic

what's your definition of "competent" while playing a caster in vanilla, cause the only thing you do with lock/mage/healer in general is to spam 1 fucking spell.

On ED where my guild had everything on farm (MC, ZG, BWL), rogues usually topped the list along with fury warriors. There was one warlock that did an insane amount of dmg as well. I was a shadowpriest and did pretty well, but I got oom pretty fast.

So from my experience, I'd say rogues.

On ED it's gonna be rogues due to the content/gear level. Warsong gear on ED content, you'll probably see fury thrashing rogues. The only dps class you're guaranteed to never impress anyone else with, is rogue. It's just too easy to play efficiently, and dps discrepency between good/bad combo point usage is extremely small. Top the meter as a warlock and people notice, top it as a rogue and no one cares. It's just expected

On ED warriors can reach 2000ap and 50% crit at BWL....
(and rogues can stack same buffs as warriors...)

Man, this is really good advice after all! I guess i'll narrow it down to warrior or rogue.
Does any of these two have any utility besides damage? If so, it's just gonna be an easy 50/50 pick.

You go warrior if you want responsibility (tank, respec, more types of pots etc) on top of facerolling. You go rogue if you want to be left alone to dps without a worry in the world. Let's just say that dps warrior backfires for alot of people who doesn't know what they've commited to.

Being competent rarely has to do with any rotation in Vanilla. Vanilla is so simple in its' mechanics that it's much more about your dedication and time put into the raiding, grinding, consumables, reputation, crafting, items, etc, and just in general; minmaxing your character, stats, and consumables - rather than being better at pressing 1 or 2 buttons.

Roll a rogue or dps warrior if you want to compete with what will inevitably be 40% of the server (who are also rogues and warriors)
