I assume your responding to me Priest but I am not sure as I never said it was editing MPQ files.

Once again replacing or editing the files is also against the rules regardless of MPQ editing or not. Also once again your just making that up based on what you think, I don't know and no one apart from the design team does but common sense would dictate its for indexing and add-on compatibility purposes.

There is nothing in the rules against adding script files to the addons folder or sounds to the sound folder. Both are built into the game as an intended feature.

Since the staff have not actually commented on it in the rules you can draw the conclusion its blizzlike and Blizzard has stated you can not replace or edit the sound files.

For the third time it was not an intended feature you ignorant fool, what makes you think it was? Show me a source.

My lord you are agressive and regarding ignorance I can only assume you are projecting.

Sounds and Addons are downloadble from Blizzard approved fansites such as curse and clearly fall under modifications that are normally accesible to players.

That it is intentional is just obvious, why else would the client even look in the sound folder before goint to the mpq files? Why would Blizzard not ask their partners to remove the cheats from their sites?

Im done talking about this to you since you are frankly rude and a pain to discuss with. I think it is fairly clear to anyone reading this thread now that adding .wav files to the sound folder is ok. Under the same principle that addons are ok.

Those sites have been shown to host questionable content hundreds of times, I remember when you could get MPQ files on curse (Although that did not last long).

So an add-on can interact with said folder.

Actually I was perfectly civil, then you repeated yourself and I was brash, then you repeated it a third time and I was rude. At least this time you are actually adding to your argument hence me not being rude.

To clarify I think its perfectly fine and would do it, no GM is going to ban you. But that is irrelevant to what I am saying.

Why go through all the trouble of editing sound files? Just keep the rat catcher flute instead of doing the quest. You can put that on your task bar and spam it repeatedly.

You should never edit the soundfiles (the mpq files) all you do is add a wav to the sound folder and the game will use that instead of the mpq.

It is Blizzards built in way to legitimately change specific sounds.
