How is that supposed to make sense, even? From what I know, the reason for the respec cost limit (which is 20% from blizzlike maximum) is lack of PvP usually happening in the world when its too expensive to switch from pve spec to pvp and then back. And Tyr's Hand, does anybody even go there anymore. No matter which server, it always seems empty, completely deserted. I think it's sad.

My bad, was supposed to be "10 Golds worth"...

20% of 50g is 10g.

Anyway it's not vanilla like.

I don't think any previous characters should be retained unless they were leveled from 1. 55 is right next to the cap and could have been gotten 60 in a few days afterwards. Some of the beta periods were also instant 60s, so if you signed up, you just got a 60 handed to you. You shouldn't keep these.

Instant 60?

If I had to make a decision, I'd rather look at the /played. 1-55 is a matter of a few days really.

1-55 in a few days? Some of us have full time jobs or go to school..

But I too agree that no beta characters should be allowed to pick up from where they left off. They should be allowed to keep the character names they chose if that's possible to reserve.

I meant a few days in terms of /played.

I'll give you my biased point of view on this (being one of those players):

1. More players.
As far as I am concerned, I won't play on Nostalrius again unless I can recover my char at some point. I, like many others, spent too much time to start a new char from scratch. Now, I am sure many new Nostalrius players also spent a lot of time on other servers.

2. Some sort of a reward
Nostalrius woulnd't be what it is today without its players. Just have a look at the old french forum to see the amount of work that has been carried out, not to mention the in-game tests and the evenings spent dying in BWL because of some bug. Don't forget that this "Beta" period lasted for a few years - there were some jokes about it :D. Some guys have been playing over three years here, helping out the devs, and what, you kindly allow them to keep their character's name? Thanks mate! :D

3. Timeline and conditions
I guess it is pretty easy to make sure no one gets an unfair advantage, we just have to set conditions for a fair restoration. Here are a few ideas :
- No restoration until BWL is cleared AND/OR after at least 6 months
- limited to one character by player/account
- subject to a minimum /played
- set a gold cap (100, 500?)
- the recoveries could be spread over a few months
- any other ideas

Venven, you are telling me, that you are willing to wait another 6 months, after BWL is cleared? That would equal in like 9-12 months total (assuming 3-6 months from the start of the realm to clear BWL). Aint it better to start a new character and actually clear that bwl again? You will get your gold back, your items and you will actually play the game, not just waiting to play the game. ;)

Im also against the beta transfer char. If the beta testers want ( I personnaly never ask blizzard a reward for all my beta test or any private server ) a reward, then give them a little in game pet or 5-10g or something, but not a lvl 60 char, it will ruin the vanilla experience of all the other players. Just imagine if the 60 player decide to gank every low lvl he see, and ofc no one could kill him because eh, he's 60. So sorry for you guys of the BETA who wants your char back, but no, it's a terrible idea.

An other example, a team thats spend much time to be one of the topguild PvE or PvP will be disadvantaged from the instant 60 BETA chars and it will ruin their goal and experience, again, a terrible idea !

You helped the server to grown up bug free and we thank you A LOT for that, but that's it, you don't have to be rewarded in-game for this, it's like a donation, a donation is never rewarded by in game advantage. A purchase can however be rewarded, but it's not a donation.

However, if Nostalrius want to thanks all the testers, they can give you a unique title or an in game pet or something like that.

You haven't read my post, have you?
Furthermore, altough Nostalrius never was "officially" released, it was clearly not a beta anymore. You can't just say something like "lol guyz you knew that was a beta".

It's just an idea.

As for a new character, as I said, no. I don't have the time nor the motivation to start a new character.
