I'm confused - what is the point of taking away the "old mounts" ?

They were replaced in Vanilla WoW with the mounts that we know of today on Retail. Swift mounts with armor, glowing eyes, etc. Their state right now is armorless/plain.

So can anyone tell when old mounts will be unavailable to purchase?

Be honest if Blizzard hadn't gotten rid of those old "epic" mounts, no one would bother to buy them other than by accident or if they were a collector. The only thing that made them special was the fact that they were removed in the first place.

Talryx, probably the only reason Nostralius removing the old mounts is so the server is more "Blizzlike".

Personally, I don't care about being 100% "Blizzlike", and just wish that when they added the armored mounts, they simply just increase the price of mounts like the White Stallion, Ivory Raptor, Green Kodo, Nightsaber, and many others.

If you want to get technical, before patch 1.12 there was no riding skill and so mounts cost either 100g or 1000g and were Bind on Use on Use not Bind on Equip. This however was a terrible game design which is why it was changed.

Not used to private servers.. Do we have to download the patch manually from somewhere or will it automatically update?

I was under the impression that the server was 1.12.1 with raids specifically disabled. Then again, I joined a few days ago.

Do the patchnotes encompass everything that Blizzard changes or are certain things (such as, for example "Onyxia - Fixed a bug that was causing Onyxia's Tail sweep to no longer cause knockback." from Patchnotes 1.5) already in game?

Anyone know if cloth donation quests are being made available?

Personally I like the addition of the "real" epic mounts...if I buy an epic mount I want it to look different than the 60% ones. Taurens, Orcs, Humans, Night Elves can all relate to this.
