At what point does a player scamming other players for thousands of gold become an issue?

I mean I understand that GM's wouldn't interfere on every instance of this stuff, but at what point does it become worthy of their interference?

Whoever is in posession of this rogue doesn't actively play him, I see him instantly log in when people are spamming /2 or world for valuable crafted gear. He ninjas the mats and funnels them to his actual account. Whoever all these stolen mats are traded to, should be banned.

Like I said earlier, at what point does a player scamming other players making THOUSANDS of gold from it, become a problem in the eyes of a GM?

Essentially yes. Except he doesn't actually sell the mats with Fitzzies. I have Fitzzies added to my friends list, and when I see people looking in /2 or world for expensive crafts with their mats, I instantly see him log in no more than 10-20 seconds later. He's on for no more than 5 minutes, then back off again. Only ever logs in when someone needs a craft. I never see the popular mats he ninjas sold by him (Arcane crystals, devilsaur leather. etc etc).

With these details in mind, one could only assume that he trades the mats to his main and sells them from there. He may trade them to a bank alt and then mail the gold from the bank alt to his main? Who knows. Regardless, wherever these trade goods or gold end up, that account should be permanently banned.

Like I said earlier, I understand that GM's won't (and probably can't) deal with every situation that arises like this, but at what point does it become worthy of a GM's attention? When a player is scamming thousands of gold, effectively becoming one of the richest players on the server, is that not cause to intervene?

The thing I don't understand is why they don't ban the account for getting hacked. In fact, pretty much all of the policies Nostalrius has regarding security are kind of weird. They have no recovery system or password reset at all.

Why is his account not banned? Not enough proof of it being compromised or is it something that hasn't gotten attention of the staff yet?

A guy got his account perma banned because he was sharing it with a real life friend. You think if they can detect something like that, they could detect someone getting their account hacked and being logged into from a different location...?

I think you guys might be missing my point. Banning the hacked rogue wouldn't be solving any problem at all. The account that should be banned is the one all these materials go to. Or gold. Whatever the case may be.

By banning the hacked rogue, you are 1) screwing over the person who was hacked, and 2) still allowing a thief who (if he isn't already) will soon become one of the richest players on the server all from stealing expensive crafting mats. At 400g-ish a pop for Lionheart and 2-300g ish a pop for the Devilsaur gear set(s), it will not take this guy long to hit the 10k gold mark.

Ten.Thousand.Gold. That is an absurd amount of gold in vanilla, are GM's really prepared to let someone scam that much?

This guy will just buy another fresh geared 60 and continue the scams under a different name. Banning the rogue solves no problem. Ban the account where the stolen materials or gold is funneled to.

Oh I definitely agree with you, I just don't think that the GMs are necessarily going to ban people for scamming before they ban compromised accounts. I mentioned this in another Fitzzies thread, quite a lot of MMOs allow or even encourage scamming, and I wouldn't be surprised to find that Nostalrius at least tolerates it while they deal with things they see as more of a priority.

But with the hacked account, that's something they very clearly should care about enough to take immediate action on, and may also ban the guy getting the materials due to the fact that he is an account hacker. Maybe.
