You are being duped. These players don't really have this gold, and that's why they can't trade it. They are just tricking the trade menu into showing it. But it's fairy dust gold; it doesn't really exist.

I confirm that this is a visual bug, and no one has been able to duplicate gold.
This has also been fixed and is applied since the last server restart.
