Ok, but then, why so much hatr..er..animosity versus players that want a PvE server? The current server is (way too much) populated enough, and I believe it will be for years. So, no drop in player base.Maybe some pvE people won't log in, but most new players will since pvP seems to be the dominant 'type' of vanilla WoW players. Also, people will continue to roll alts when they need more professions or are somewhat bored with their 60's that do only raiding plus some BG's or WpVp. So, there will always be enough 'gankable' material. And if we suppose that gankers are just a tiny fraction of the overall player base, why is it then? The small number of hardcore gankers are just much louder than the vast majority? And if so, why? Redridge/STV/etc lowbie ganking is done to Pvp/PvE lowbies alike. So i don't really buy it. Pure bad attitude toward anything that you don't deem necessary? Pure envy about people getting fun at something else you consider..stupid? Why should you even care if that would not impact your own gaming word except for lowering lag and making your gaming experience better?
Instead, ALL the PvP players with a bit of healthy thinking should have logged on the PvE test server to make 100% sure it gets done, to get rid of all those 'carebears' with their silly attiute at cuddling with the enemy and just taking space and causing lag?
Stating 'they better fix lag and bugs instead of wasting human resources/hardware/money) on new server" is a moot point.
You can't just take an old VW Beetle from a scrapyard (vanilla game engine) and upgrade it to Ferrari Testarossa to reach 340 km/h. It just doesnt work like that. But you can take another Beetle from the scrapyard and patch it up to make it run at a decent speed.
