The majority of the "crying" is clearly coming from the PvP crowd qq-ing like crazy over potentially reduced influx of their beloved grays and PvE players landing at Thorium Point on their way to BRM.

The PvPers sound like whiny babies in comparison to the PvEers who sound more like tired parents who just want the BS to end and get on with the real game.
Pristine realms... Industrial levels of stupidity.

You are aware that PVP epics are called welfare epics aren't you? Or maybe you don't remember the days that people tried to get into raids with their extremely easy to get (free) PVP gear. Scrubs

I don't know about the past, but currently this is the opposite. The most populated servers are the PvP ones by far :

https://realmpop.com/eu.html
https://realmpop.com/us.html
Edit: there are more PvE players on US, but there are more PvP servers in the top populated servers.

Blizzard listed PvE servers as "Normal", but as you can see the norm nowadays is PvP servers. (Edit: at least, definitely, in EU).

I'm totally in favor of opening a PvE server though, because it will means less lags for the PvP one since it will be on a different hardware.

There was serveral and they opened even more after a while to make the stress on the other servers more stable, same as Nost are hopefully doing :)

One of the strengths of Nostalrius is the HUGE population of its server. Of course this is possible because the team is good and the game is mostly bug-free, but in the end what makes the experience of playing WoW enjoyable is not hitting a mob without glitches, but living in a social game. This means, for example, that the AH works as it should, the economy of the game is well balanced, queues for low lvl BGs are reasonable, you can change guild and have the possibility to play with different people if shit happens. If you think about that, high population is the reasons why new servers which are potentially good struggle to survive, and why old servers which are crap still stay alive.

Now, if you split the server in two, the best case scenario is that half people will go to the PVE and half will stay in the PVP. Hence, you will find half of the times you do now that item that you need at the AH (and most likely at double price), you will take twice the time to enter a bg, and in general you will find half of the people to play with. Why would you do it? Why would you kill the biggest strength of this server?

I hope you realize, OP, that there were PvE servers in retail vanilla.

That being said, I personally don't want another server opening. Splitting up the population does not bode well for Nost.
