If you are planning on rolling on items outside of your current spec, YOU need to ask the group if it's ok. That's how tanks and dps warriors deal with it, that's how shaman deal with it, and that's most definitely how priests should deal with it. IMO that's a ninja and would piss me off, if you want to roll on healing gear you either A. Heal the instance, or B. Announce at the beginning of the run that you plan on doing so.

That's all stuff that needs to be discussed before the run starts. Whoever the group leader is has the responsibility to start the discussion. If there is no discussion, how do you lay blame? It's not as if he rolled on an item he can't use. Why does the other priest have more of a right to the loot than he does? Specs can be changed.

So did he end up getting this over another Priest who was in the group and the main healer? Because it sounds like everyone Greeded it which meant it was just gonna be D/E'd or vendored, so i dont' see big deal in a Priest Need rolling it even if he's shadow specc'd, he's only one that could have used it.

Now if he took it from a Druid or another Priest, then i could see there being a bit of an issue.

Oh shut up, it is common courtesy to say what you want before you join or at the beginning, a group doesn't need to give out a list of rules to drop shitters from being shit.

As for the situation, is anyone surprised? He was shadow, at the moment you can only be shadow in 5 mans, so of course he would want a high valued healing item.

So don't make/have a list of rules for drops.

So make a list of who is after what drops.

By that logic, paladins should need roll on everything because they can use it and they can change specs. :D

It's common courtesy to only roll on gear for your current role, and explicitly ask beforehand if you plan on rolling need for a different role.

I do think that the normal way to handle this is to ask before rolling need on an item that is outside your current spec/role. If that isn't the normal way to handle it, then it should be. Otherwise as others have mentioned I'd roll a paladin and by lvl 40 roll need on everything, because hey... I can just change spec right?

All that said, I don't think what Nevah did here is bad enough to blacklist over, but I would be concerned about it.

I guess being a group leader means doesn't mean anything anymore. All the individual members of the group have to explicitly state that they will be rolling on gear they can wear. They should just remove the group leader role. Its obviously worthless.
