There were always plenty of ways to do things differently. Night elves being an independent nation, having high elves on Alliance (although their numbers and lack of zones are a problem), ogres, Stonemaul or otherwise on Horde, a third faction consisting of Illidan and Kael's forces on Outland (which would be a third continent instead of a replacement for the old two), etc., etc. Along with gameplay changes. Giving Paladins Strikes back, implementing some of the gutted Skill functionality like learning languages, and some planned PvP features like DKs from killing low level players, outlaw status and City Protector rank, etc.. It's all just daydreaming really, I don't know how feasible it actually is to develop new content for private servers or if there's interest for such a thing.
Something like this. Unfortunately, it's something will never happen, because there isn't any private classic server interested in this.
But i wish some like that ever happened, it's sad to see how many things blizzard could have done, instead continue the game in the line it went.
Classic ended in 1.12, i just wished it would have ended long later
PD: To get to these zones you just need your own emulator (easy to find) and type .worldport commands. For example caverns of time was already done in vanilla, even the Black Morass dungeon was completed.
