No, lets say I get belt of the ordained on horde side. I want to sell it to an ally so I put it on neutral AH for 1 copper then buy it with my lvl 5 ally dude. Then I want to sell it for 100g or whatever on ally AH to get the gold. Finally I sell a stupid item like spider guts for 100g on my horde char then buy it with my ally dude.

The bot stops this strat by buying the belt for 1 copper before I can get it.

If you want to avoid sniping you should put the item up for what it is actually worth. Thus you need your lvl 5 ally dude to have a buffer of gold.

When an item is put on the AH anyone can buy it. And even if the practice of sniping on neutral AH is on slightly shaky moral ground it would be ridiculous if Nostalrius staff would interfere with players just for making good deals on the AH. If they are botting, sure. But even a person sitting with the AH open and a decent addon will be way faster than most normal users.

No one is complaining about getting legitimately owned. I personally haven't been sniped, but I have put up many snipe-bait-testing sub 50s blues and had them sniped at an impossible speed. Same people everytime.

Note that with the Vanilla auction API it is possible to legitimately automate buying out auctions. Unless they are using an anti afk bot they're not doing anything wrong.

Let's be honest though, the sniping addon seems more like intended use of the neutral AH than that.

If that's true that needs to be changed. That's basically botting through the API.

It's a defining feature of Vanilla that the restrictions on what you could do in terms of automation with addons were much lower than in later expansions which certainly ought not to be changed on an intendedly bilzzlike server.

As an addon developer myself I can tell you that it's definitely possible to create a simple addon that autorefreshes the AH. Is the person in question using such a thing? I don't know.

Is it illegal? There are addons that can do similar things but are perfectly legal. Auctioneer for example can automatically create auctions. And that seems to be fine for everyone. The auction sniping addon would simply be a reverse Auctioneer.

I roleplayed with that sexy male troll in Everlook yesterday.

I didn't know bots were capable of having feelings !

@ OP : You got sniped like many others. It means you exposed yourself to it. Learn from your mistakes and deal with it.
