Even though it's a free server there's considerably less gold sellers than there are in official WoW and other games. It's not that bad really... gold sellers are just a part of MMORPGs nowadays unfortunately. Hopefully some day someone will come up with a way to make it impossible to be a gold seller but until then live with the knowledge that there are much worse cases than on Nostalrius.

I'm the author of SpamThrottle. I've made the default keyword filter catch all known gold spammers, even if they try to obfuscate the message. You should not need to tweak SpamThrottle to block them, it will do so out of the box.

And as they try to get around the filter, I update it to squash them again.

I think it's a lot worse on here IMO. Every time I go to any city I see those annoying forsaken gold sellers within a minute being there spamming like crazy. Gold buyers are worse, though. They keep the gold sellers in business unfortunately.

The difference here is that someone buying gold gets banned pretty fast. Often they didn't know that they would get banned for it. And the gold sellers tell them it's safe.

So those unfortunate souls lose both their money AND their characters. Gold sellers here are more than just a nuisance; they really are the scum of humanity.

But really I laugh everytime I see people selling gold. They hardly make any money off of it (usually around $2/hr of optimal farming) so they're publicizing their shame. Maybe when I get tired of it someday (I'm still laughing several years later) I'll install your addon. It IS awesome to see an addon creator who is so involved though.

I agree with this. It doesn't seem nearly as bad as what it use to be on retail servers.

It would indeed lower the spam if the level requirement to say anything would be level 10.
Gold sellers won't level alot of characters to level 10 to get it banned. Might work!!!
